I wouldnt be so sure, they probly have the first, but i bet the last wasnt a big deal to them, it was the last of a shortened production run they didnt see as a success. My guess is it went into the world and sat on a lot for months and someone has it who has no clue. Its not me tho

I am pretty sure mine was close to the end but dont think it was the last produced....
June 3, 2004 production....
Just remembered to look at my paper work from Ford performance group:
Of all 04's
#3132 of a build of 3214 (So 82 from the end)
# 971 of 997 in SB (So 26 from the end)
Pretty close but no cigar.

Yeah, I have NO problem with the search function. It helps if you know who said it, when, and know a couple keywords. "Advanced Search" is the key.

I thought the first 20 or 30 went to executives to putt around in and then were evaluated before the release to the general public. Ford might have the first one but I'd suspect the others met the crusher as I don't think Ford sells those test cars.

IIRC, they were 2V motors set up with Eatons (maybe via Roush Engineering?), put out somewhere near 330 hp (YAWN).
That said, I think Chapel1 has a real early 300A, like down in the teens...

...current number of MMs still in operation? I know there's been quite a few that have met their demise and gone to the 'junkyard in the sky'.:depress:
It would be kinda cool to know how many Blacks, Blues, DTRs, and SBs that are still prowling around...

I don't think that there is any accurate way to find out this information. However, here's \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ an estimate from back in January 2011.
We lost an estimated 715 Marauders in 2010 (-491 '03 MMs and -224 '04 MMs)
In the Year 2011 …..
Here’s my estimate of the number of 2003-2004 Mercury Marauders that are remaining as of the year 2011. Attrition to date is “just an estimate”.
Total MMs remaining – 6,436 (’03 MM – 4,422 and ’04 MM – 2,014)
’03 MM – 4,422
Black – 4,002
Silver – 235
Blue – 185
’04 MM – 2,014
Black – 780
Silver – 619
DTR – 615
Total ’03-‘04 MM – 6,436
Black – 4,782
Silver – 854
DTR -- 615
Blue – 185
Here's the post from last year >>>>> http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=57712&highlight=attrition

I think Charlie's statisical model is probably tracking pretty close, it's based on some realistic attrition factors.
Won't be too many more years and they'll be a rare sight on the road.

Mules with S/C'd 4V? I did not know that! Everything I'd heard was S/C 2V, and the decision was made late into the launch program to go with a N/A 4V.
I'm thinking the mules were not part of the 11,052 production number, but that's opinion, not confirmed.

it's posible that I have the first 03 300B Marauder. No one on this site ever posted a 300B with a manufacturing date earlyer than mine and there are a few 300A's out there that were manufactured after mine. Infact it's the only 300B I know of with a 2002 build date. Can anyone prove me wrong.

The earliest 300B that I can find belongs to "2003_MM_FYRE49" was born on 11 November 2002.
The changeover from 300A to 300B appears to have happened sometime between 18 Oct - 11 Nov 2002. Too many gaps in the member data to peg it closer than that.

As far as I know, I have the earliest known car. VIN #045, build #27, build date 3/12/02. She's still on the road with about 135k and in great shape. Except when I left for work this morning I found it in the driveway on a cinder block and a floor jack, sans all four wheels. :mad2:
Found a reconditioned set of wheels and new tires and it should be back on the road by week's end.

Thanks for the info...I know getting an 'exact' number is nearly impossible; just looking for the best rough estimate, which is exactly what you provided. Thanks for keeping up with this and hope you can make it to the Blue Oval Classic in Mooresville the weekend after next!

I met a gentleman that claimed he bought his car from Roush, who had it as a test mule. I doubt these claims. I did take a picture of the VIN, ending in X609262
I found an old picture of the sticker on the motor, the date says 5/16/02. I think he may be stretching the truth a bit.

Mine was built Dec. 5th 2002. I'm glad to be proven wrong. I was just curious. I do know that there are a couple of 300A's with build dates towards the end of Dec. I guess they built both models for a short span of time. I was hoping that it meant that maybe mine was an early test model or something. Oh well.
P.S. I got my reference info from an old "Post your build date" thread.

It's sooo nice to have a car that is rare...all those Camaros and Mustangs are a dime a dozen. I see one every minute it seems like...I've only seen a handful of MMs since I first saw one about 5 years ago. I plan on keeping mine as long as she'll let me...
