About three months ago the FM went out in my 2nd factory radio. I have been looking for one out of an Excape but have not found one yet. I was not in any real hurry because everything else worked. Well yesterday my wife was driving the car and the FM was working again. Whats up with that.

Sounds like an issue in the circuit board, bad connection or something.
BTW, Prices are going up on used Escape radios, but they're an excellent replacement for the OEM unit.
You might want to PM TFB, he's got a used one that may be available.

A bad solder job from the factory that made the radios.
You can either try to get another OEM radio
Get yours fixed
Get a radio out of an Escape
Go aftermarket

I had the same problem, FM would go out at random. I would turn off the car and when started again it was fine. then a few months ago, it went out and stayed out. For a couple months it stayed that way, then started working again. I swapped it with another OEM radio (Thanks Bob) and everything has been fine since

I have an OEM one I'm not using.... I took it out right when I bought the car and put in an aftermarket head unit.

I think everyone's had this issue.
I'm still trying to find a replacement for my '04 two years after the "FM disconnect".
My problem is I'm in Canada, and getting one up here from any members, ends up costing allot.

My stock 04 radio is doing the same thing for the past 3 days.
Also, it seems to be fine for the first 5-10 min. when I power it "on" then static after that.
WTF....POS !!:mad2:
I guess its time to go aftermarket.

Rockettman,
If you should buy one from here is the states, have them send it to you as
a gift. via the US Postal Service.
I also understand if it is parts not a complete unit.
Remove your knobs, something like that. I remember sending things
out of the country, and on the declaration forms at the USPS they would
ask what was in the package and it vaiue. No value. Had a box to check as a gift.
I would also put in some other items to make it look more like a gift.
How Canada Post handles it, You would know better than me.
There is a member on this site (Peter) who sells fender flags and is now
selling Die Cast Model cars, who is Canadian may be able to help you with
this as he ships here all the time.
Hope this helps
PS: dbc1965 has a late model Mercury radio F/S Just saw the post.

I brought a '03 radio up not to long ago, when my original one would only receive Jupiter on both am & fm. Do not use UPS as they will charge $30 + Brokerage fee to cross the border.
Use US Postal Service, have the sender label it as "used Auto parts". It gets passed directly to the Canadian Post thru our customs (adds an extra couple of days delivery time) then delivered to your door. You pay GST, PST, or HST on the value stated plus $5 Customs charge (I don't think there's duty anymore).
If your not home when they deliver, you'll get a card in the mail directing you to go to the local "7-11" type post office and pickup there.

Mine did that too, its in a box somewhere...The Escape radio sounds great, but it ate my CDs, and wont play them, or give them back. I keep looking at the "aux" button thinking I need satellite...
