I replaced my IAC because my car had a couple no starts over the winter and has been experiencing longer crank times than usual. The problem continues. Not severe, but annoying.
On a cold start, ie sitting overnight, it cranks for a few seconds, starts to catch for 1 second, cranks for about 2 more seconds and starts. But not every time. It never used to do this. When warm, it starts right up. All normal maintenance has been done. Any ideas?

I have been having very similar issues with mine. Although my car has been like it since I bought it but recently has gotten a little worse. Actually it does exactly the same thing as yours but sometimes it fires right up about a 50 50 chance.

Sorry no ideas but Im curious whats causing it.

+1 on the MAF. Also make sure your intake tube is tight. I had similar problems when mine came loose.

What's the best chemical to clean it with? Air intake cleaner?

any other ideas about what is going on here, I'm having the same issue with my MM lately, are these MAF sensors prone to failure?

Not that I know of.

My problem seems to have slowly cleared up after I cleaned mine. But it wasn't really dirty.

If it failed you would get a CEL, if they are dirty, the engine will run funny and cause hard starts. Try cleaning it and go from there.

Hmm already tried cleaning mine, no difference, same problem. Maybe will try again with carb cleaner and small detailer qtip.

Carb and brake cleaner can leave a residue that can't be seen to the naked eye. Use maf cleaner...it evaporates with no residue left behind.

could lack of fuel pressure be the problem?

Very possibly, cycle the ign switch on and off two or three times for three seconds, that will build full pressure and will improve starting if pressure has leaked down overnight...
