Good afternoon everyone,

Got a question and hoping this is the right place for it, if not feel free to move mods. I have been looking at an 04 mm with 98k miles on it recently. Car has two previous owners, blk on blk, north Florida car all its life, tires are pretty new, tint, tc, clean engine, unused donut spare, appears to be very clean in all the pictures I've seen. Seller wants 12k delivered to my door in a sealed container. Good deal or no?

Seal container? Yep it's a good price was 12k the asking price. If you can get it for 10500 that would be a a very good buy. What ever way buy it as soon as you can. Thes cars go over book value

12k was what he wanted don't know if I could get for less but can try. By sealed container he means an enclosed trailer that doesn't unload the vehicle til it gets to my door.

Where is the vehcile and seller? I would see if you can get someone local to check the car out.

I was blessed on my deal, but the seller was an established member here. If he had not been established here, I would have taken the flight to see the car in person. 12K is a lot of coin to spend on a car that you have not seen, in person.

My two cents ...

Sealed container?

Sounds like a scam that was going around a while back.

I'd see if someone could check out the car closely, and then proceed with caution until you can confirm the deal's legit.

Is he asking you to make a down payment on the car? If yes, is it via Western Union money transfer?

If it is in NE Florida (Jacksonville to Lake City) I'll be glad to take a look.
Just let me know.

Wow-

Just did some research on this supposed dealership thanks to you guys comments and I must admit its quite perplexing. The dealer is Scozac Auto Systems in Pompano Beach Florida, but when I did a Google search of his address it came up as Budget Equipment Rentals.

This car is listed on Ebay and is currently at $8200 with four days to go. His reviews are 100% positive with glowing comments from his customers. at least the reviews on the ebay site.. However when you read the comments on "Budget Equipment Sales" which is apparently the same place, the reviews are of nothing but scam, after scam. People sending their money and getting nothing in return. Even the BBB, while saying Scozac Auto Systems is not a member, gave him a B-rating and said hes only had 1 compaint in 3 years and that their investigation showed that he tried to satisfy the customer so I'm kinda at a loss. As far as Budget Equipment Rentals the BBB in Pompano gave him a A+ rating with no complaints.

I'm attaching a link to the actual ad and maybe you guys could make some sense of how their could be such completly opposite reviews on the same operation even though it is under two seperate names. Sure would like to get another Marauder for a decent price and this one "looks" really nice. Heres the link.

Thanks to all and I will sit by patiently and wait for your replies.

Lots of pics.

Oil pressure is right where it should be. :)

Which means it's between 5 & 100psi...

It has a Carfax buyback guarantee, if it's a dud you'll get your money back...

I agree the carfax guarentee will buy back if it has been in an accident or w/e not recorded. However doesn't really help if I send payment and never see the car... Anyone in the area that would feel like going by and checking it out/checking the place out? Just wierd that he would have all those ebay positives and then 3-4 people saying it was a scam on google... Supposedly according to the seller on the phone he has a rental place on the same premises as his car lot...

I would have a local member go ck it out for ya. Then if you buy pay down payment thru pay pal so no worries about getting scammed. Once all good drive up there in person to finish the deal thats how I would do it.

Gotta admit, doesn't look like a scam, but still a good idea to have a local go check it out for you.

NIGERIAN SCAM ALERT. Nobody in the US talks about shipping cars domestically in sealed containers that Ive ever heard of.

There is a 03 Marauder in Tulsa that I'm interested in buying but I'm in Kansas City.

Are there any members that live in the Tulsa Area that could look at it for me before I make the long drive down there.

I'm disabled so a 8 hour roundtrip drive is kinda rough on me especially if the cars not in good shape.

Thanks guys and gals,
Mike

The "Offer" to sell you the car for $4 over the Ebay listing on a no reserve car is by far a scam, and may not even be from the actual seller.

IF you really want that car it sure looks nice, I hope my 04 still looks that nice at 100K miles (Funny how cars get sold JUST below that mark) I would certainly buy it DIRECTLY THROUGH EBAY/Paypal.

That said, there is an inherent danger buying a car far away without seeing and driving it first. Even if you go all the way down there you are much less likely to walk away if it's not right or may miss things. My 01 Vic had been in a mild front ender but I missed the obvious signs missing radiator cover, overspray etc.. The crappy replacement fender ended up rotting out 5 years later and all the repair paint was peeling off. I had driven from Mass to NJ and was too focused on other stuff and missed it.

This is why I limited my search to MASS only, sure I would have loved a less rusty car but I am very happy. I drove the car first and gave her a good look over, plus it was a ONE owner totally clean CAfax car.
