View Full Version : NY/NJ/CT January get-together

Folks,

The holidays are over. New Year's eve is a faded memory. Mother Nature snowed out our December meet date. That can only mean one thing:

Time to pick a date in January for a local meet for NY/NJ/CT (and area) marauderers!

Location is Bennigan's in Yonkers, NY off the Saw Mill River Parkway. Start time is 12 noon. Now all we need is a date. Possibilities are Saturday or Sunday, December 9 or 10, 16 or 17, 23 or 24, and 30 or 31. (SuperBowl is in February.)

Please post the dates you can do (or if it's easier, list the dates that don't work for you). This will be very helpful in choosing a backup snow date.

So, please post your thoughts. We can still toast the new year, each other, and the Marauders!

Thanks,

Ummmmm, a little too much to drink on New Year's Eve Pam? Don't ya mean January????

I am in. I prefer Saturdays.

Marty, the SuperBowl is on February 1. And my problem is that I didn't drink enough! But you made me look at the calendar and I realized what I did do wrong.

My bad. Duh. All the dates I listed above are Fridays and Saturdays instead of Saturdays and Sundays. Duh. What a doof. Guess I thought I would be having all three-day weekends in '04.

So, let me take it from the top:

FOLKS, PLEASE LOOK AT THESE DATES, NOT THE ONES IN MY FIRST POST . . .

Possible dates are Saturdays and Sundays:

January 10 or 11, 17 or 18, 24 or 25, or Saturday the 31st.

Sorry about that.

Thanks,

Okay, if we are going to do this on January 10th, we better keep this thread at the top so that all the folks no to come.

Pam, do you have the e-mail list of the NY/NJ/CT area folks or do you want me to do a mass e-mailing?

As posted last time by troopcar:)

Here's the 411 on our get-together:

Saturday January 10,2004
12 Noon
Bennigan's Restaurant
2 Executive Boulevard
Yonkers, NY 10701 (although it might really be 10703)
914-966-1100

Executive Blvd. is Exit 9 off the Saw Mill River Parkway. If you're driving North on the Saw Mill, Exit 9 will be a jug-handle off to the right, then cross over the parkway (as if you were making a left off the pkwy). If you're driving South on the Saw Mill, Exit 9 is just a right-hand turn.

Once you're on Executive Blvd. just continue straight up the hill, around the curve, past the water tower, and you'll see Bennigan's on the left.

Here's a link to a map (hope this works):

Map showing location of Bennigan's

Just don't confuse Saw Mill River Road (Rt. 9A) with the Saw Mill River Parkway. The "road" runs parallel to the parkway (east of the pkwy).

I'd like to get together with you guys, but unfortunately I will not be around on January 10th.
I will be working at the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas from 1/5 - 1/12.
I'd like to meet up with you guys in my spanking new Marauder.

Can we have another meet in January, or is TWO, too much for you guys ???

Unlikely that we would have two in one month, but if enough folks want, we could change the date of this one to another the 17th. Although we all view Logan as the supreme ruler, this is still a democracy, sort of!

I think I'm pretty much the only Marauder owner up here besides my sister lives on Long Island and this may be a great excuse for a road trip. I bought my 2003 MM (300a) last month. It was a left over and I've been dieing to take it on a road trip.

So, if you're planning to join us and haven't posted yet, please do so. C'mon out Marauderers.

Thanks Troopcar for asking, but it will be the 03, the 69's new paint job is not quite finished yet. It was to be a couple of patches, little bondo and paint, but turned into a new quarter panel, both doors and a front fender, oh well, so far it looks better than I expected, it should be finished soon. See you all Saturday. Bill

As far as those of us leving from L.I. and downstate. Is there a set time frame? For convoy purposes I will state that I will be entering the LIE @ exit 62 I think maybe if we set a timeframe we can pick-up Marauderers as we travel. We could set some designated points along the route to meet up and continue and continue our trek with a growing # of fabulous people with fabulous cars. Does anyone have a Nextel? We could Direct connect to synch. our convoy.

We had a nice turnout today, thanx again pam(troopcar) and bigdogjim(always the life of the party).Despite the cold (more like sub-freezing) weather,we stood outside shooting the breeze about each others cars as long we could stand it.when we couldnt feel our hands or feet anymore, well,,the party was over.its a shame that it wasnt a few degrees warmer and we all could have spent some more time outside with the machines.hopefully the next meet will bring better temps.we did have a few close calls on the way up there, right steve(blownblass) hehehehe.but hey thats half the fun is driving these cars, and even better when its in a pack.all in all a good day, havent seen some of these peeps since last year.ok pam, jim, marty, when is the next meet?lol.here are a few pics from today.jeff

A great event today. Got to see some old friends and some new faces and now new friends.

Pam, thumbs up for getting the ball rolling on this one.

Jim, thanks for setting up the plaques. They look great and I have already hung up mine with my fast growing collection.

Jeff, what can I say? Your car simply looks too sweet for words! For those of you who haven't seen Jeff's car up close and personal, you are gonna want to make sure you catch up with Jeff (if you can). He did some serious custom fab work that escapes words. By the way, Jeff says he and Robin may be in Indy. I sure hope so! This way I can convince Jeff to get to work on my car. I plan on having Jeff do a built motor and then one of his awesome Kenne Bell set ups, then tubbing the rear, and....

To all the new faces at the meet, thanks for coming. Sorry it was so cold for you all. The next meet will have better weather, I promise.

Let's do this again soon. How about a date in late February, early March? Some folks said a Sunday would be better (a day on which I normally work) so I would like to start planning now.....

Just wanted to thank the organizers of this meet. I was nice to meet everyone, just wished it was warmer to spend more time with the cars (wanted to get a close look all the mods). I would have liked to spend more time, but with the cold weather (pipes freezing) I had to get to work. By the way KEEP the heat up when its this cold, the money you save on heating cost by lowering the thermostat will not offset the repair bills to have frozen pipes replaced!

Headline in Sunday morning's Journal News in Westchester:

"FIERCELY LOYAL MARAUDER OWNERS BRAVE BITTER COLD IN YONKERS" with the subhead "Yonkers 4th Precinct Flooded With Calls From Anxious Residents Concerned About FBI Invasion on Executive Blvd."

Just kidding, but it almost could have been. http://smilies.sofrayt.com/1/p/phone.gif

But seriously, I want to thank all who braved the (really) bitter cold and made our meet such a success. It can only be warmer next time!

What a great meet we had! Seeing all the Marauders lined up in the parking lot was such a rush! Heck, just seeing them one by one come over the crest of the hill was a thrill. The caravan from Long Island/Queens must have been a sight to behold. Wish I could have seen it.

It was great fun meeting and hanging out with the marauder owners. And, of course, the CV, ImpalaSS, and GM owners. We toasted the New Year, each other, and of course, the Marauders.

We found out later that the restaurant staff had been gawking through the windows and wondering who was invading their parking lot. Some of their guesses: FBI, CIA, Shriners, Funeral, Wedding. We (mostly Bigdogjim) set 'em straight -- they are Marauders, dudes!

And thanks to Bigdogjim for the beautiful dash plaques commemorating our day.

Stay tuned for next time!

Thanks,

Hi All,

Thanks again Troopcar for all the efforts. I sure never saw so many Marauders in one spot before. BDJ the plaque is my first.
Great news Marauder/Crown Vic. I guess I'm one of the few holdouts. I'll work on that.

Thanks for the warm welcome all. Got a great deal on my car as a trade in so I couldn't resist.

Martyo,
You know I'm gonna be stoppin by for mods...1st thing will probably be the Eibachs...I love how the Marauder looks dropped. Maybe that and the widened rims with 255/45-18 on 18x8 and 295/45-18 on 18x9.5.

I pick up the car tomorrow. :D

Funny thing is all the Mercury dealers in the general area had none...no left overs or slighty used ones. I found a slightly used 2003 trade-in at a Ford dealer. It was at Smith-Cairns Ford in Yonkers but they brought it to the one in White Plains for me and the general manager hooked me up. He was excellent...not haggle or getting screwed by a sales person. I wouldn't have done it if I wasn't happy with the final deal. :D

I'm tooooooooooooo impatient!!! I'm pickin up the MM at about noon tomorrow!!!! BUT I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Smith-Cairns Ford of White Plains!!!! :D Not the LM dealer. Smith-Cairns has 3 locations.

I've dealt with Smith-Cairns of White Plains before and I've been very happy with the service and friendly people.

Funny thing is, I ask the General Manager about installing 4.10 gears and he said "Yeah, we can do that....as long as it is a Ford part."

Congratulations, Marauder/Crown Vic!

Man, you work fast. You mentioned at the meet last Saturday when you were there with your nice CV Sport that you were seriously thinking about acquiring a Marauder. It only took you a couple of days! I guess we can call you "fast Marauder."

P.S. I hope the service folks at Smith-Cairns in W.P. are more customer friendly than the ones at S-C in Yonkers. . . If they are, I might give them a try.

I am now the super proud owner of a Marauder!!! In all seriousness, I miss my Vic but am 100% pleased with my new Marauder.

I would recommend Smith-Cairns to anyone for sales or service!!! I was treated very nicely.

I already put on my wheel locks...only thing is I can't seems to figure out how to change the headlight bulbs to install my silver Stars...much different concept than the Vic. I searched the site and could not find a procedure...any help on this???

Remove your radiator shroud I beleive their are three plastic wing nuts on top. There will be an electrical connection on the side of the headlight casing you must pull them apart. In back of the headlight you will see 3 bolts, remove them and very carefully start sliding the headlight out towards you (Be careful not to scratch the bumper or crack your turn signal lenses). Replace the bulb and install the headlight the same way tou took it out. It took me about 15 min a side.
Good Luck,
