Hey guys...
I need a hand diagnosing the alternator. I'm fairly sure it's shot.

Order of events:
1) Stopped charging while driving home. Got down to about 10 volts. Pulled over - shut her down. Reseated control plug. Checked fusible link. Got a jump. Started charging again.
2) Watched carefully over weekend. Rechecked connections etc. Kept charging.
3) Start up Monday morning. No charging.
4) Alternator is probably about 100-105K. Car has 140K, but I had a hi perf that only lasted about 35K. Then the stocker went back in.

Seems like classic internal voltage regulator issue to me.

I'd like to check the signal on the control wire, so if someone could tell me what I should see on each pin, that would be great.

I don't have a bunch of time to diagnose these days, so if anyone could offer a reliable source to get the CORRECT alternator, that would be awesome too.

Thanks in advance...
Rich

After doing some looking...

Does the 175 amp Crown Vic alternator actually fit?

Most of the 2V alts are too "deep" to fit the 4V.
Hits the front of the lower intake.
