I have a line on a set of Crowler Stage 3 cams. How bad would drivability be with them?

What are the specs on the Stage3 cams Paul?
The Crowers will give you a lope @ idle and will more than likely require both intake/exhaust to be swapped.
Go to M1R and PM na_svt with the specs and he can provide real life expectations and info on degree/advance values

I'm looking at all 4. Not sure what M1R is.

crw-62824-4?? Upgrading springs too I take it. Those are fine for our cars SC/street. May have a slightly rough idle, not bad though. I have a video of a Mach 1 with them somewhere in my archives. Good 7.5k+ rpm too...
Mach1Registry. Todd's on all the Ford sites, just look for na svt...
Duration is very similar to the 98 Cobra cam swap, except for lift being .484 instead of the .397 lift of stock/cobra. Actually those are very much like the FR500 cams!

With a big car like ours driveability would be aweful.
You'd need at least a 3200 rpm stall, 4.10 or 4.30 rear end gears, headers, ported heads, and a ported intake to take advantage of them. Not to mention you better have access to a DAMN GOOD LOCAL tuner to make it all run right. Big cam's don't always mean big power. They have to be mixed with just the right combo to run right.
Its just not worth the buck for hp with modular cars, you're MUCH better off throwing on forced induction. Then the car will drive nicer too.

Those cams are mild and there would be no driveability issues, but they have too much duration (228/232) for a heavy, automatic trans combo. Their intake LC is also a bit high.
None of the off the shelf cams are good for a marauder. I recommend you go with a set of custom ground intake cams that use the stock springs. They will increase both tq and hp while using the stock valve springs...saving both parts and install costs.

you make a good point! most of the 4.6dohc hardware is made with the mustang in mind, not the marauder which is quite a bit heavier with an automatic trans, a custom grind would be the best bet with your build in mind be it n/a, or s/c for max results.
unless you get a hell of a deal!:coolman:

I suspect they will work ok. Mine are Comps, 222/224, .475/.450, 114 LSA
You will need new springs for sure.

Yeah, 212 and 212...
212 is at the lobe, not the valve
