I asked the question in another thread, what is the speed rating and load index for the tires you purchased?

If you're running HTR Sport H/P, they're only an H-rated tire; guys that have run "H" tires have not had good luck with them, in fact, one guy (Weschain) even ended up losing control of his car and wrecking it.

Oh. So I need a w or y. I figured anything over 120 should work

Speed Ratings
Speed ratings are determined by indoor laboratory testing methods which measure high speed tire durability under controlled test conditions...The validity of using speed rated tires in the U.S. is based on the idea that the tire's top speed capability must at least equal the vehicle's top speed capability, since it cannot be assumed that the driver will always observe the speed limit.

Recently the speed rating is being referred to as the "performance rating" of the tire, since the higher speed rated tires generally offer improved handling and maneuverability compared to lower speed rated tires.

Higher speed rating typcially corresponds to stiffer sidewalls.

Because sumy's have about as much quality as if you took a bunch of used nike's and duct tapped them to your wheels then drove on them.

When the engineers design the suspension system for a car it designed for a specific type of tire, load rating, speed rating etc. When you put tires on that are not within those specs you get "unpredictable results".

There have been lots of different tire combos that have been recommended here over the past 8-9 years. Not one mention of "Sumotos".... except this one.

^^^^ You nailed it, Jim. ^^^^^

The aftermarket tires that most of us have switched to have very similar characteristics to the OEM BFGs (other than they wear alot better).

Nittos
Hankooks
Falkens
Goodyears
Generals
et al

They've all been tried and proven, and if you look at the specs, they'll have very similar ratings.

Plus you went with a taller tire will give you more side wall flex ,go back to oem size and speed rating .

I think I'm going with the nitto 420s v its the only thing they have. But the rating is a v is this what everyone uses without bad sway. Hope I don't have to start another thread for this question

A lot of guys are running Nitto 420s, they should work ine for you. If you have questions about their performance, PM 03mmmonroe, he's running them on his car.

I also plan on switching to 255/55 Nitto 420 on the rear once my stock BFG are shot.
