Calling all 4r70W experts:

Installed a new 4R70W into my 03 Mach 1 and 1) no reverse after warm up 2) P.I. 3500 multi disk now locks and unlocks in all gears 3) trans shifts early 4) when filling trans some fluid puked out vent but okay now.

I'm afraid to drive car but need to know from other buyers of his transmissions

1) do I need to do a tune? car is all stock
2) MLPS is properly adjusted, could it still be the problem? was fine before
3) is car safe to drive or will I fry a brand new $2200 transmission
4) has anyone else had any issues similar to this?
5) Is his business up and running?

Please help!!!

I am neither a fan of him nor his transmissions.
The cell phone # I have for him is: 317-514-0816
Not sure if that number is still good, this was from years ago.

Some of it Sounds like tunning issues, the trans not going into reverse is ofcourse bad news.
Don't drive the car and get ahold of him ASAP.
Dennis Reinhart can can get you in contact with him.
Good luck.

Are you located in Etobicoke?

If so, it may be worth the drive(or flat bed your MM) to go to Heritage Ford(SVT dealer) in Scarborough which is located at 2660 Kingston Rd. Perhaps they can diagnose the problem. Trying to do it over the internet is pretty challenging.

You need a tune for the stall converter to work properly.

Darin is very ill, they found severe mold in the walls at his shop and he now knows why him and his family have been so sick, so please stand by, I will try and get a hold of him for you, he is trying to get moved as well so I understand what he is going through.

Thanks Dennis. Darrin's health is more important to me than the car. No rush for a response from him under these circumstances.

New trans. and 9.5 inch triple disc converter took a total of 12 quarts. Dipstick shows fluid level at top of hash marks. If that wasn't the case, I'd swear it was down a quart because even forward feels like neutral for a split second til the engine revs up a touch and the converter kicks in.

If I can't figure this out by tomorrow I will have to pull the trans. and put the original back in for now.

Thanks for all responses.

I was at his shop a couple weeks ago. He showed me the mold and holy ****, I can't believe he was still in there.

the way you describe it - it sounds like it's low on ATF. Put another quart in. Sometimes the stick can be hard to read and misleading.

I thought that his new show had and odor to it last year when I was there, and seeing the roof leaks during a heavy rain makes me understand why there is a mold issue. Hope Darrin(and his family) gets better soon.

Some mold can be pretty bad I saw a report about a family in Texas that suffered life time effects from mold in their home they had bought.

I hope he and his family recover from this soon and he gets it cleaned up fast!
