Try searching for the self test. Its a 3 button combo like that cycles the doors. My crown vic wouldn't have cold air until I did the test, then it was fine for the rest of the summer. Hopefully its not the dreaded blender door accuator.
Press FLOOR and OFF at the same time, then within 2 seconds, press AUTO. That will start the self test. The display will light up and spin for about a minute, then flash a code. I think 024 and 025 were the blend door. My Crown vic would flash these, but they would start working after the test. Its worth a shot.

is this going to be a major expense for me?Yes. It will cost more than the universe itself.
Seriously, there's no way to tell until the problem is diagnosed.
Does the compressor clutch engage when activated?
Did it blow cold yesterday and hot today, or is this the first time you've tried it since last fall?
Are you pulling my leg? lol Should I also look for a sky hook?

Um...not sure what you mean.
You asked a vague question with no information and I asked a couple of questions to help narrow the problem down. If the system is low on refrigerant, the compressor clutch will not engage. If it's engaging, but isn't blowing cold, then it could be a number of other things...blend door motor not actuating...clogged condenser coil. You need to provide WAY more info or take it to a professional for diagnosis.

Could possibly also be an EATC issue, I had a replacement EATC unit that I tried in my car that wouldn't energize the A/C function. Got air blowing through all the different vents, but when I tried "auto" or one of the A/C functions, I could hear a click, but the compressor wouldn't engage. Different head, no more A/C problems.

I already paid to get the universe up and running, no way in hell am I paying for that again!
I turned on the A/C last December on a warmer day and only hot air came out. It feels like the heater is on that’s how hot the air comes out of the vents. Even with the temperature in the 20's it still put out very hot air, as hot as the heater does. I keep forgetting to check the compressor clutch to see if it engages.
Also one of the power door locks is not working to well, I was told it could be as much as $300 to fix that? WOW! True???

There are a ton of resources in Chicago land. So don't let the dealer give you a good screwing.
Hook up with another member close by or a shop that knows these cars. I can't turn a wrench that well either.

I'll give it shot. Thanks

What would you consider a "major expense"? It could be as simple as a plug off a high pressure switch...... or not.
Like any car, they are all money pits............
Looks like it is going to be the blend door motor not actuating. Cost was $85.50 for the Blend Door Motor and $356.40 in labor.

I did this self test. Test runs, and appears to complete, as at the end of the test it lights all the icons in the EATC control. No codes displayed...At the end of the test you can hear the blend door actuating, almost like its stuck. Turn AC on and it only blows cold through def ducts, indicating blend air door is not actuating right and will not blow through vents. Shut car off, restart and put on Max AC and vent and it then blows ice cold through the AC dash vents. My question is, with no codes, and these symptoms is it the blend door motor/actuator bad, or is the EATC bad?

The blend door has NOTHING to do with which outlets the air comes from. It ONLY controls whether the air is hot or cold or in-between. If you have issues with air coming out the wrong outlets, it's related to the EATC...possibly the o-rings, or the EATC itself could be bad.
Old thread but as FYI, if the temp is max at all settings except for 60* the cabin temp sensor is likely bad or unplugged...

I should restate that.
I have no problem getting air flow to direct wherever i choose, vent, def,
floor etc.
The issue i had was no codes in the EATC after running self test and after doing the self test THEN i got Cold Air like i should out of the vents, instead of ambient/warm.

I'm thinking spectrum did the self test and got the same results as Blackened below:

Spectrum, I think performing the self-test has fixed your problem...whether it's a temp fix or a permanent fix only time will tell. If your A/C defaults to defrost vents only again, then your next step would be to replace/upgrade the o-rings. There are probably several members on this site in close proximity to you that can help you replace the o-rings w/o having to get screwed by dealership....pay them $700 to have the same issue 3-4 years from now, or pay $50 or less to have better o-rings installed that won't fail.
I had the same issue last summer, paid FastBlackMerc $50 to swap out my o-rings for better ones (one was broken and two others were cracked/getting ready to break) and have not had any issues since then.
Good luck....

MY EATC went bad where the temp select quit working. No choice but to buy a new/used EATC.
A/C blew luke warm last summer. Draining the system plus 38OZ. of new R134a at my own hands solved the issue and saved over $100.

I would agree with your assessment of the self test. It appears to have temporarily fixed the problem. Its possible/probable that it is defaulting to def vents. I'm unclear as to which O Rings need to be replaced and is there a service kit? I Probably could do it myself. Thanks !!
