View Full Version : Noise/Vibration on left turns

My 300A MM is making a noise like a bolt being pulled through a hole in sheet metal and a vibration that matches it. It usually happens after tight left turns when you are straigtening out. I sometimes have to give the wheel a quick jerk to the right to finish relieving what ever is going on. Has anyone else experienced this? It's been in the shop several times for it. They've retightened a few of the body bushings on the left side. This makes it go away to some extent for a little bit, but it always comes back.

I started this post after spending a few too many hours fixing a lousy BowTie.
The noise/vibration is felt with my foot resting on the floor near the parking brake pedal. It feels like a bolt being pulled through sheet metal. You can feel each thread. They have retightened and replaced a few of the body to frame mounts. I have pulled the left front wheel off to see if anything shows signs of shifting or being loose. If you see rust marks around fastners it is a general sign of something moving.
Like I said earlier it usually happens on left hand turns more than 90 degrees. It is now also happening on some pull aways. It is frustrating since I can't mask it with the radio since I feel it more than hear it.
I appreciate the links sent though. They did add some food for thought since if it's a frame issue the noise/vibration can travel pretty far.
It's being put in the shop again. Since I work at that same shop I'm going to have the shop foreman take the beast home with him.
I'll keep you all posted. :help:

Two outs and the shop foreman is at bat again. It's an out of the park home run. I have had this awful creaking sound and vibration on left hand turns. Several techs had poked around under my car trying to figure it out. On the last attempt I let the shop foreman take the beast home with him to hear for himself on an extended trip. He was just about to replace a body to frame bushing when he noticed buried between the frame and the body was an extra bushing. Fortunately he was able to smooze it out without major disassembly. This would have most likely started more noises and vibrations from the body being lifted from the frame. This is the second problem from assembly that's been found on my car. The first being the wire harness being pinched in the seat frame. If it wasn't for noise from the lumbar forcing the need for disassembly of the seat it would have been a problem down the road. :mad2: :fire:
So to christen my quieter ride I gave it a nice sprint alone route 32 along the Delaware river. It's a beautiful twisty road the has an average speed of 45 mph. To add to my newly refurbished joy for my ride it blessed me with better fuel economy over the last run I made on the this route.
I'd love to see someone close the road down and let people make timed runs down it. It would be too hairy for side by side racing. Still, even a spirited run with one of those Stang owners in the passenger seats clinching their teeth is fun.

Cool... did they charge you extra for that bushing? ;)
Glad to know it worked out...
