Warm temperature is a must.
Clean the area, then clean it again. If you think it's clean, clean it one more time.
Proper surface preparation is a must!

^^^^^^ what he said ^^^^^^^
I used an old tooth brush to get down into the embossed lettering and get the corners and radii well cleaned.

Yeppers! I used a Q-Tip and rubbing alcohol to clean the area on a warm, dry day.
Make sure you have a steady hand when applying!
Not one issue after all these years.

Where did you get titanium black? I've only found SS; I want my inserts to be black since I have a SB.

I got them from here,

but i don't see the "titanium black" option anymore, not sure why.

Yeah, I think they sold out of the original stock and haven't made any more.
I see the notation "276 Units in Stock" for the SS inserts has changed from when I bought mine (IIRC, the number then was in the high 280's). My guess is, when these are gone, they're gone; so anybody interested should buy while they can.

Ok guys. I have chrome looking ones. Isn't there a finish where they are black but when a light reflects on them they shine then?

I think that would be the titanium black ones.

From ssinsert or bobs?

I went with bobwhitedecals.com and got the Red Ruby Reflective ones.
The main reason I went with BWD is my bumper had a tag bolt hole in it from some azzhat putting up too close to it so I didn't want to get SSinserts then turn around and have to remove them because of the bumper repair. My BWD's have had up pretty good over the past 3-4 years.
I've also been thinking about doing an illiminated pleixglass panel behind it with some red leds and wire it into the brake and turn signal system.

We are working on something like that as we speak birdman. Hopefully it will be done by the SSM meet.

Interesting, they look just like the regular SS Inserts in those ^^^^^ pics. Maybe it is just the pic. They look darker in the pic that you posted a couple \/\/\/\/\/\/ posts down.

I've read a couple other posters in older threads who got the titanium black's saying they expected much darker, probably not worth the extra dollars.

I believe SS inserts are the only metal inserts, i'm impressed with these, can't speak for the non-metal ones.

I had a feeling about that's what it was. I had the idea a few years ago but got married and everything went down hill. My divorce will be finalized next Monday so I'm getting back around to modding.

I called the company that makes the SS inserts a couple weeks ago and they are sold out of the black titanium. When I saw several posters saying they had them, I was hoping there was another place to buy them, but I see that everyone bought from the same company. The guy I talked to said something about 'powder coating' them if I wanted a different color. I reeeaaaallllyyy wanted to get the black titaniums because I love the fact that they change color with light conditions. It looks like I'll have to get the SS inserts and figure out how to make them black (since I have a SB). Another thing I've been thinking about is, since there are 8 letters in Marauder and 4 diff colors, maybe have two letters of each color. (2 SBs, 2 DTRs, 2 Blues, 2 Blacks) and arrange them in some sort of pattern. My way of giving props to ALL MM owners out there! At any rate, guess I need to buy some SS's soon before they are gone and I've got nothing...

Have you ever seen the regular SS Inserts on a Silver Birch?? If not, I suggest that you find one (at one of the MM events) and take a look. Personally, I think that the contrast between the mirror finish on the inserts and the SB paint looks great. You'll have to decide for yourself; but I suggest that you check it out "in person" 'cause pics don't necessarily convey the effect as well. JMHO.
