So first off let me say I searched the forum and found a few threads, but am not having luck... As suggested by a few members I got a can of SEM 15303 Graphite but found that to be WAY light to match. I am trying to spray a few of the interior pieces that are getting wear, and my drivers side window switches were previously replaced with a blk unit so I want to spray it to match too.
Have a 03 300A, does anyone know of paint that actually matches...as this 15303 sure doesn't...and at $11 a can I hate to buy more 15303 to see if this mix wasn't on.
Also does anyone know how to fix the lighted switches that are out? I took it apart, and on the older switches you could replace the bulb but in these the leds look tiny and I cant even get to the back of the board where they are soldered on...

IIRC the failure on the switch lights is actually the solder joint needing to be touched up. Are these LEDs actually soldered to the back of the board? It was my impression that they were surface mount.
As for the paint, I am going to need to touch up my interior soon. If finding matching paint is as difficult as you say, I may be tempted to just buy some small jars of interior paint and make my own paint blend to use in my airbrush.

I thought about the ford option but it seemed that it was no longer available? Will call some dealers and try to find it...anyone know the part number?
Logix - definetly way too light and seemed bluish to me.
illwood - they look soldered to the back to me..and then the board is attached to the plastic piece in a way that removal without damage looks impossible...wth?

There was a recent thread on this with suggestions. You may want to do a search on it.

Did a search the last post I found was on 4/7/11 about interior paint, and it really went nowhere. A few people mentioned that the 15303 didn't match at all, then some said to use the ford charcoal. Others said that was way to dark and didn't match. One suggested DAP1692 Primer, then another thread recently said that didn't match either... So has no one found a match?

Thanks DBC, I would appreciate the part number, and will see what I can find. Heck if I can find more than one I can get them and try to sell them to other owners who need it.

Just for an update, one of the guys on the CVN site, found the PPG list for the paint codes of interiors. It appears Code 5B8A responds to PPG907480. So if you have a local autobody shop in your area that can mix this for you, it is supposed to be a direct match. Unfortunetly the only napa that can even do PPG paints for me is in KS and can only do it on monday, and has a minimum order quantity (don't know how many).
All the other paint supply/bodywork shops I tried are closed today.

Can they put it in a spray can? Group buy?

They can put it in a spray can, PPG #907480. I have to try and call back monday to see what he says about quantity and pricing. I don't want to do a group buy without personally making sure the match is good, don't want people sending money for a bad match. So I'll just have to see how many he needs. Supposedly most NAPA auto parts places and many auto body supply places will put a ppg number in a rattle can...

According to another CVN/MercuryMarauder.net member the FoMoCo / Motorcraft dark charcoal vinyl spray ( part # M4JZ-19M547-4149H ) was still available from the local FoMoCo dealership parts counter ( though it did have to be ordered ).

Regarding SEM # 15303 ...
Used it on an A'pillar trim piece and well as a touch-up on the Marauder RH dash trim and was a match.
Like a lot of other things, you experience may vary. http://www.gdmjoe.com/dunno.gif

GDMJoe - yeah I would guess maybe different batches get made with different tolerances, so some turn out different than others, my 15303 is a medium blue grey color.
Thanks for that part number, I wonder if anyone has confirmed that this new part number is still in fact a match, or maybe another slightly different color of charcoal?

Whelp ... Since y'all don't believe here's an excerpt from the Motorcraft Interior Paint Chart

*NOTE: The 6th check-box / X column is for the Crown Victoria / Marquis ( which the Marauder is a variant of ).

Thanks Joe, just trying to make sure I didn't spend another $20 for a newer color that was the "same" but different. I wonder what the midnight black is for, the area by the EATC?
