With only 1200 miles on my '03 300A MM, my left headlight is fogging up. My old '99 SHO did this all the time, but it had 75K miles on it. What gives? Is this a common problem with Marauders? I'm taking it back to the dealer Monday, along with a list of other complaints. :(

It's a common problem and there is a TSB on it.

Is this problem only on the 03's? Or should I be looking for the samr problem on my 04.

I think it is only a 2003 problem since the headlights have an updated part number. It is a Special Service Message # 16997.

What is this "Special Service Message"? I've never heard of it. Is this something I should reference to the dealer when I take the car in on Monday?

There are many threads regarding this all to common problem on all Lincoln/Mercury products.

Here is one I found. (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5538&highlight=condensation)

Hey no problem....you're not alone out there!

If you like to read, type a few different searches in the 'search' box and you'll find hundreds of posts out there.

Poor design........headlights on both
my Marauder & Grand Marquis
fogged up. The whole (lamp/headlight unit)
had to be replaced.

Also had this probelm on my LS and my mother's Crown Vic. I have always just taken the headlamp assembley out and ran a hairdryer in it until it's 100% dry. 80% of the time the problem doesn't return.

Here is another similar thread (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6110&highlight=lamps+intern).

Also, for those of us that don't like visiting the dealer any more than we have to, get the lens dry and run a small bead of silicon at the seam where the clear lens mates to the lamp body if all of the other seals look good on the lamp. This will re-seal the seam.
