Just changed the oil in the "Blackbird" today, and took my first sample to send to Blackstone Labs for a UOA (used oil analysis)...as soon as the results are returned, I'll post them...

I don't know if this information will help anyone else, but if we have a few UOAs on the board, it may help determine a normal baseline for this motor.

...in addition to proving, with scientific logic and precision, once and for all, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that Mobil 1 5W-30 is, in fact, the cat's ass of motor oils...

Bob - That sounds good. How many miles does your MM have?

I'm eagerly awaiting the results... I intend on doing the same with all my cars for 2004.

John, I've got 20,000 on the car and 4,000 on this oil. Pending the results of the analysis, I'm planning to increase the OCI to 5,000 miles until the warranty is up, then extend it to whatever analysis indicates is appropriate.

RF: Good move on maybe extending OCI depending on results.

No sense changing "good oil"

Please post results when ready:)

Maybe we are to the point now that we need a special forum for Oil subjects?

Changing to oil is the most important maintenance for any vehicle and probably the least expensive. Clean oil is the life blood of your engine. IMO.:D

Actually, BOTH sets of twins TOGETHER would be about right...

Hey Todd, wasn't that YOUR car I saw go by last night? The one with the burned out headlight, one muffler dragging, a donut-spare on the left front, and Roy Clark & the Hee-Haw Jug Band on the stereo?
