My 04' has developed a woo woo woo sound under 20ishmph. You can feel it in the floor boards. Its gotten worse and I believe I've located the noise at the passenger rear wheel.

Anyone else have to replace the axle bearings in their 04's?

Yes I have senn this over and over, pull the axile it probably is badly worn, if so you can go with a 28 spline kit from Ford or spend the bucks and go 31 spline call me any time if I can help.

Yep, I had my axle seals replaced a few years ago. They were both leaking, the RR worse than the LR. I think it had about 60K on the clock at the time. No problems since.

I had my rear bearings replaced about 130-140k miles. Was told they had light normal wear on them and looked good.

Thats why I'm "WTF'n" My 90 GT rear bearings were changed out after 160k and 18 years of service. Why? Just thought It would be a good idea.
I hope the Axle is OK. If not I'm gona be pissed.

The wife and I are leaving town for a week. I'll try to get it torn down before then incase I need to order parts while we are gone.

Btw, refresh my memory please. Are these 31 spline from the factory or 28's?

I remember my 03' had this issue that was fixed with the axle kit but my car was under warranty. I thought the 04's didn't have these issues?

all marauders came with 28 spliners, the 04s didnt have the soft axle issue, but if a wheel bearing goes bad, and is undetected for a while the axle will be damaged.

Are the MM axles specific or will vic axles work as replacements?

05 and up CV PI have 31 spline its a easy conversion I would use the Ford Carrier and add a Kevlar kit.

Yeah my axles were good, didn't have to change the bearings but went ahead and did since the axle were out and just a good idea.

Okay so axle wise I'm looking for 04 latest, whats the earliest?

Not really interested in converting to 31 spline. I don't make anywhere near the power to utilize it.

I know a few people have got Dorman axle replacements and haven't had any problems.

My opinion is do not use Doorman, I would go with Ford or stay at home, but again its up to the owner, I would look at the warranty.

What about Balkamp? Napa sells them @ $146 each.

Called my friend at the local fomoco dealer.

$322+ tax for the TSB Kit that has everything in it.

When I get time I'll crack the dif, slide the axles out and see if they really are the problem.
