I bought a complete front suspension, crossmember, etc off a wrecked Marauder in a salvage yard. The rear was already gone so I didn't get that. Most of the car was gone at that point. The way that most of the suspension bolts to the aluminum cross member and the cross member just bolts to the frames. My thought was, I have this 49 F-1 sitting behind the shop and its just itching for a setup like that. I was thinking about getting a rear end to match and I have read alot about the panthers all are the same width from 03 up and the 05 up are 31 spline. What I can't find is an actual width of the rear axle. If I do my math correctly, the car width is 70.2 inches and they have 9 inch wide wheels with 6.5 inch back spacing. So my math says there is 2.5 inches past the flange on each side so if I subtract 2.5 for each side (5" total) then I get 65.2 inches which I will call 65 and a quarter. Anyone agree? Anyone know what the actual width is? My thought was just keep an eye out for a reasonably priced 05 up Limited slip rear for the right price and snag it up quietly.

I got 73 1/4" across including 4 1/4" on each side from the backing plate to the end of the studs.

So if you subtract the 4.25 on each side, that would get me close 65 from flange to flange. Is the regular Marquis and Crown Vix the same width? Thanks for the reply.
