Battery still original? Sounds electrical related. Check grounds and fuses etc.

Battery. Mine died while driving a few years ago.

Probably the battery.

Check the alternator too. Not saying that's the problem, but it could be the cause. I have gone through three.

Ok... since you have lights, and im assuming everything else battery related, i would not think the battery is the culprit. Here's a question.... When you put the car into the "run" position, do you hear the fuel pump engage? There is a fuel pump module in the trunk that's not a stranger to failure. If your battery went out while you were driving, im pretty sure you alt. would handle things for a while and whenever the car did shut off your battery would be completely gone (no radio, lights, etc.). This makes me think that its your fuel control module. I'm not just speaking out of my "you know what". I actually had this problem before. Just my :twocents:.

If it was the fuel pump the car would still crank. Powering the lights doesn't take much. The battery could have enough power for the lights, but not to turn over the engine.

Didnt say fuel pump...i said the module that controls the fuel pump. I believe ignition is routed through that module meaning that if the module is bad, it wont allow the car to attempt to ignite. This may not be the problem in this case but it was the problem in my case. When i turned my key to run, i didnt hear the pump engage. and after turning to start i got absolutely nothing. It turned out that the relay that i had going to that module was bad. Once i changed that i have never had another problem at all and my battery was brand new at the time. The pump may be in great working condition, but if my theory about this modules influence on ignition, the working status of the pump wont matter.

Sorry it took so long to post guys but I took the car to my buddy Ron who works at a dealership they said it was just a 50amp fuse. They said they checked out the car and couldnt find why it blowed. But now when im driving my door looks go up and down without me pushing the button and I cant use my windows! Im about to lose my mind over this car!!! GMC Sierra I may be on the way! I dont want another car note! : (

Checked for the common chaffed wire harness behing the DS valve cover? It a good starting point for what seems to be electrical havoc.

+1, 50 amp fuses usually just don't pop, and the door lock thing sounds like a short..:beatnik:

Did water get into the window switches? This may be where the short is...

Good luck...
