Hey Everyone,

Well it appears my passenger side upper catalytic converter is on its way out (no performance issues or smells, but a sharp rattle on startup and as it idles it will rattle every so often) and am trying to find a replacement.

I searched through the forum and found lots of different threads in regards to catalytic converters, with most people using the magnaflow high flow cat.

I currently have a replacement magnaflow high flow dual catalytic converter system on my 01 CV that looks and sounds like stock, however that unit appears to not even be made anymore nor will it work on these cars.

1. I can find a Catco brand unit that looks similar to stock that is listed everywhere...but the brand makes me weary...is Catco a decent catalytic converter?
2. If I replace the passenger side cats with the single magnaflow unit where do the 02 sensors go as I see no holes for them?
3. Am I going to loose bottom end with the single magnaflow unit (I know when I changed mufflers on one of my old CVs I lost my bottom end out and hated it, had the stock units put back on)?
4. Am I going to have a big change in exhaust tone with the magnaflow unit?
5. Have the magnaflow units gotten any better build wise? I saw multiple posts with them going bad....
6. Other suggestions?

Thanks:banana2:

1. yes
2. need bungs put in.
3. no
4. no
5. not sure.

6. Reinhart has some nice coated shorty headers for $200, then you just need some catted downpipes with the X to bolt on to them.

6a. Sell your old cats for $200 cash. I did when I got my SW LT's.

If not just get the OEM replacement unit for that side.

Never heard of Catco.

The O2 sensors go in the pipes not the cats.

3. Am I going to loose bottom end with the single magnaflow unit (I know when I changed mufflers on one of my old CVs I lost my bottom end out and hated it, had the stock units put back on)?
I replace the stock 2 cats with 2 hi-flow Magnaflows and the change was for the better.

4. Am I going to have a big change in exhaust tone with the magnaflow unit?
Not a big change, but a change none the less.

5. Have the magnaflow units gotten any better build wise? I saw multiple posts with them going bad....
I've had mine on for 3 or 4 years and have had no problems.

6. Other suggestions?
Nope.

Catco is the largest catalytic converter manufacturer in the U.S., as a matter of fact Magnaflow buys all their substrate from them to use in their cats.
