Hello all,
Just wanting to put out the idea of trying to set up a meet sometime next month. Location? Date? I know with summer just 'round the corner, we'll all be busy with other things, but would like to at least give this a shot.
So, to try and do this the good ol' American way, let's put it up to a vote.
Locations: Columbia, Charlotte, or other (known as a write-in...lol)
Dates: 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th
Once we get those nailed down, we can go into further details, such as meeting spot, time, etc.
My votes for location: 1st choice--Myrtle Beach, 2nd--Columbia, 3rd--Charlotte
My votes for dates: 1st--11th, 2nd--25th, 3rd--4th (I will be in WI on 18th)
Just want to get the ball rolling; I know we won't get 100% match for everyone, but 99% is just as good!;)
The polls will close on 1 June 2011, so get your vote(s) in now!

Presently the 25th is good and location in Columbia is good for a change---its a nice drive down and back in one day--

My wife and I work every Sat., & Sun. (Those are the only days we work though), so we wouldn't be able to make this meet, unless we took vacation, and we already have the 6th, & 7th of Aug.

Sounds great to me! Ironic that we may have July's meet locked up before next months' meet...
Only a few votes so far, but consensus has us meeting on June 25th in Columbia. Please tune in to the 11 o'clock news hour for further updates...

There's been just a handful of replies about meeting in June, and most of them are pointing towards the 25th in Columbia...I know I just put this out yesterday, so I may be a little too eager. Just excited about getting together again...the BOC was the 'icebreaker' for us; now we can really let loose the next time we meet.
What can I say? I'm bored and got nothing else to do at the moment...
For those of you that were at the BOC and didn't catch it, I'm a sarcastic, funny, smart-ass...some people like, some don't. I was once called a 'sarcastic SOB' by my boss when I was in Korea...don't mind being given that moniker....and I know it rubs some people the wrong way...not intentional; it's my way of dealing with new people until I get to know them better.:puke:

We know! :P I am the kind to end up that way after I know people well enough. The reason I haven't voted is b/c I never know if I am able to attend something like this until the time is closer. SOOOOO when ya'll pick a date and time I can tell you if I can be there or not later.

I would prefer my MM be left with another MM owner vs sitting in a storage building. Can also have mods done on it by someone who understands what I want while I'm half a world away and in a different hemisphere. Feel free to make mods on your own dime as well! Looks like half are able to do this and half that and some this, that, and the other....so, whadayall (southern for what do you all) think about:
Have a get together in Columbia on 25 June. For those wanting to meet in MB and/or can't make Columbia, have an 'in-between' meet in MB on/around 4th of July. AND, for those that can't make either, meet on July 23rd for the cruise-in per Rex's suggestion.
All of these meets can be a during the day thing...those that want to make it an overnight stay can.

Are you asking in reference to where they live, or why they aren't posting on this thread? If the former, Jim is in Cary, NC, Russ is in Monroe, NC, Wendy is in Anderson, SC (near mayor McCheese), and bugsy is in Myrtle Beach.
Haven't had a chance to touch my car this week due to work...damn military and it's freakin' exercises :mad2:...and will be seeing kids this weekend, so once again, everything is on hold for now...
I'm gonna try to meet Jim in Wilmington the weekend after next so he can fix my o-rings and LCM. It's been crazy this past month...when I have the time to work on my MM, I don't got the money, and when I got the money, I don't got the time!
Just FYI...will be taking my 'summer vacation' from 14-24 June, so I probably won't be posting much during that time. I hope to be back to my brother's house in GA no later than 24th (if not back at my place by then) so I can make the meet on the 25th...

Jim's work schedule is even more goofy than mine, so he may not be able to commit until the last minute. I know Russ has a real busy June planned, so he may already be booked.

So here I was, on my way to Jim's house, minding my own business, not going a mile over 110 mph...well, maybe not.:P Actually I was going through Sanford and a "countie mountie" pulled me over and said he clocked me at 60 in a 45 zone.:shake: Hard to believe as I was just stopped at a traffic light scant seconds before that. He was driving a Charger...should have just blown his doors off!;) $30.00 fine and $141.00 court costs.:mad2:Suggestions are welcomed.:help:

Which day of the 4th of July weekend were you wanting for everyone to gather in MB? Just curious because I will be on 'stand-by' on the 4th, but can come up on the 3rd. I will be going to Asheville to see my kids on the 1st and 2nd...

I hope it goes without saying,y'all are welcome anytime...The fireworks display, which is definetly worth seeing,is on the 4th..About 10pm...I am originally from NYC and I have seen the Macy's 4th of July fireworks close and in person from my boat right up along side the statue of liberty.Having said that, the 4th here in Myrtle Beach is of course on a smaller scale but, very tastefully done...well worth seeing..Patriotic music accompionment and outdoor seating on the grass(bring your own favorite folding chair)....There are fireworks displays all up and down the beach and can be seen from my viewing spot on Murrells inlet, where there are about 20something bar/restaurants in a row...All of which feature live bands...This area is where bike week is held every year and no matter when you come down you will enjoy...If you can't make it on the 4th but,can on the 3rd,come on down anyway. We would love to see you...bugsy c

Funny....I drove through your neck of the woods today (twice) on my trip to Wilmington to meet Jim (fastblackmerc) to have him swap out my LCM and o-rings (two were completely shot). I kept my eyes peeled, but didn't see ya!;) If I had the time, I would've let you know I'd be in the neighborhood and maybe meet up somewhere, but needed to be back in my neck of the woods by 3. I did notice a lot of people were lookin' hard at my MM...I felt very similar to the day I became a father for the first time.
Jim is an all-around great guy. After he finished the work, we stood around and shot the breeze for about an hour. He's got an awesomely-customized MM. If anyone were to say anything bad about him, I'd be inclined to punch 'em in the face...not many people make me feel that way after just meeting them....including my ex!
I'm down for making a trip up to MB anytime...I liked what I saw on my way back; just gotta be careful....you know what they say: do 15 and get 20! You may regret your invitation!
I'm leaving Tuesday for my almost 3,000 mile journey to WI and back, so I won't be posting that much (if at all), but I still plan on being in Columbia on the 25th. I'll re-read this thread to make sure, but I don't think a 'start time' has been designated yet....

Sorry, Tom...I'm using the silver beast (I need to nickname my car already, BTW) for my 3000 mile journey and I'm not going to Australia, so you're SOL...;)
I'm putting in my retirement paperwork tomorrow; retiring 1 Jan 2012. When I get back from WI, will begin the process to file for divorce. I'm tired of being in 'limbo' like I've been for the past 6 months, so I'm doing what's necessary to change that and do what is going to make ME happy. I can honestly say I did what I could (20 years in military; 10 years in marriage) in both situations to make others happy, but now it's time to make myself happy...and hold my head up high knowing I gave both everything I could.
Hey, maybe my nickname for my MM can be 'Silver Phoenix' since I'm rising from the ashes....

about 30 mins ago; sorry to see the majority had other plans and last-minute issues pop up to keep them from going. I was on the fence myself, as I'm tired and just put 3,087 miles on my MM. I had a full days' worth of stories to entertain everyone with at the gathering. Here's a brief summary:
--Got some sort of weird 'eye disease' on the way up to Asheville to see my kids; was bad enough to where I had to stop at an urgent care center in Blue Ridge, GA on my way to my brother's house to get seen by a doc.
--Family reunion was going well until Monday; my brother and I had a HUGE falling-out, and I'm pissed at my sister and Dad as well. It was so bad that I seriously thought about leaving Monday night. Hate to say it, but I won't be doing ANY family gatherings; MY kids are my #1 priority right now and everything else is just passing the time until I get to see them again.
I won't be able to make MB because I will be on 'stand-by' on the 4th and can't be more than an hour away. Guess I'll start looking forward to Rex's pool party on the 23rd....

You can do it yourself if you are a patient and a detail oriented person.
You need tape, paint - colored & clear coat and time.
I did mine and Marauderman's. Marauderman's came out better than mine.

Go with 35% tint--is what is allowable in most states and likely not get you in trouble--I have it like most and its fine---
The S55 treatment is what Jim says below---and he did a great job ---
You can do it yourself if you are a patient and a detail oriented person.
You need tape, paint - colored & clear coat and time.
I did mine and Marauderman's. Marauderman's came out better than mine.
Nightshades is not the S55 treatment.
Jim is a very talented man and a great friend----if you have a whole day and good at persuasion you might try and sway Jim to help on yours---$$$$

Thanks for all the help/info guys...anyone know what dupli color I need to look for if I go the DIY route? Trying to save $$$ where I can. I will eventually be moving back to NC (whether it's at the end of this year or next is TBD), so will go with tint that's legal for NC.
Bugsy: I might be interested in coming up that way the weekend of 9th/10th...depends if I don't already have something to do here. I have 'stand-by' on 10th, so it will be Saturday if I do.
The SB MM I saw on the road here shortly after I bought mine made another appearance yesterday on my way home from work. Couldn't get close enough to it to talk to the driver, though and I don't think he saw me, either.
Lastly, I seem to have a slow oil leak coming from the front area of the engine...about 6-8 drops of oil when it's hot. I put a piece of cardboard under my car last few nights to see how much oil is getting leaked.

Yes...something I'll be looking forward to 6 months from now...actually 169 days and 10 hours from now...not that I'm counting....
Did find out some good news yesterday; I can file for unemployment after I retire, and because I'll be a full-time student, I won't be held accountable for 'actively' seeking employment. I can do this for 18 months....CHA-CHING!!!
