rear end humming

I dont really know how to explain this, but when im sitting in park i hear this loud hum from the rear end. It also makes the sound when im in reverse or and the breaks at a red light, but not when im in drive and moving. does anyone know what this could be?

Probably your fuel pump. You wouldn't hear the rear if your not moving.

Could also be an exhaust pipe resonance...check all the hangers and make sure nothing is contacting the body/frame anywhere.

How many miles do you have on the car?
When is the last time the fuel filter was changed?
I can give you better advice if I know.
