Hi guys I have found a 03 MM with 98000 miles for 6000.00 and I offered 5500.00 and he would not come down from 6. The question is should I buy it for 6 after i tell you all that is wrong with it or walk away. It had minor front end damage which was repaired except paint, oil and trans levels were low look under and it looks to be leaks, needs tires and front seat, a/c was not working could need a cond. coil and i think it may need a clock spring in the steering column. And it had a blue pearl met. flake cler coat put on it over the black. Of all it has issuses which would cost a couple of grand. But it did drive nice. Your guy's input would be helpful thanks.

How handy are you doing the work that it needs?
If you can do most of the work that's not a bad price.

If your saying that it might need a coil I'd make sure about that. If it idels or runs funny could be a valve or something less. Then a good paint job could be at least 1500. Make sure there's no frame damage. Other then that and 1grand for rubber everything els is no prob

No the a/c condenser coil in front of the radiator.

Unless it's specifically tuned for lower octane, don't try it.
Pre-detonation on these cars is terminal to the engine.

what would be anything to worry about if he been running lower octang? even if the motor is quite and no pinging.

Welcome. Good to see another regional menber. I'm in Louisville.
IMHO, I'd keep looking for a Marauder that needs less, if any TLC.

Welcome!
I agree with Embassy, I'd keep looking for another one. You could run into a lot of other problems down the road and then have a sour taste in your mouth about the car.
I bought my car used in great shape for 21k in late 2005, not even 4-6 months later there were a few supercharged ones for sale in the 15-19k range.

Unless it has a Trilogy supercharger, where the knock sensor has been removed, the knock sensor will protect the engine from detonation. The owner's manual recommends 91 octane. If it hasn't been tuned for higher octane, you should be fine with 91.

I would agree but could not swing that kind of money for one. I just was thinking that at 6000.00 that needs some TLC and hasn't been butchered would be worth going after.

From what you said was wrong so far sounds far from TLC. I wasn't saying look at high price cars but with all that stuff wrong plus whatever else you just might wish you paid a little more up front for less repairs and minor tlc stuff.

It may not have an oil leak. When you remove the oil filter, it gets all over the place.

Look around some more you could find one with similar mileage with some minor problems but not a bunch. My opinion that many problems to me means there is other prob on top off them like any car when they get that many issues alot of other prob become overlooked. That paint alone could become more of a problem then you think did the seller know what color code was added to the clear to achieve the result of the clear? Might never be able to match excat even with color blending considering its in the clear ,cant blend cear coat you can only but match panel to panel.

On the other hand, if you are able to fix this one up you will have saved a Marauder from an uncertain fate! I'm sort of hoping you you can do that!

IF you can do the work, and WANT to do it, then by all means save this one. The time will soon be here when there are very few to choose from. and you may well regret missing this one. if its in good mechanical shape, you could pick it up for 6 and still not be too deep in it. how bad are the front seats? paint, pretty easy, A/C Condenser, easier, ask if you can swap coils, scan for codes ect. my miss was just plugs installed w/o boot grease resulting in misfire. new plugs fixed it. easy.
I'm a fixer myself, I like to restore stuff, so that's my bent. if you aren't into that stuff, leave it for someone else.

I want to you guys for your input and to let you know that it did not pan out. I went back and looked the car over better and took a longer test drive and it's an 2003 that would need a resto job done to it. It will all ways amaze me that people get a car like this and run the dog snot out of it and than try to sell it and the basis that it needs alittle work. So again thanks for the help and info maybe some day I will come across another for the right price and shape.
