The shop that did mine had a small tab the fit between the rim and tire.

No problem on my wheels, just had it done 2 weeks ago.

We use the heads that have the tab that clamps to the outside of the rim. Yes wheel damage "can" happen, not "will" happen. You just have to be careful. He's telling you this up front because he doesn't want to have pay for damage if it happens. Gotta cover your rear. I do the same thing at work if someone has a very clean car or custom wheels. Find someone using a newer Hunter machine like I use, the heads are pretty safe on wheels.

That looks like the same setup we use. If you're careful the rims will be fine. I've done my own with no damage.

Exactly the way mine was done.

They hook to the wheels with small tabs the fit between the rim & tire, then the adapter is pulled in tight.

Thats what they used on mine just 5 days ago, worked great, but I don't know if I like the alignment yet or not.

I've seen guys deflate the tires, put the adapter on then re-inflate.
