I've looked throughout this website and haven't found anything on the specs for the factory amp/subwoofer system. Does anyone have this info? Wattage, channels, everything? Also was wondering if the rear deck speakers are wired into the amp; if not, has anyone done this? I just finished building my subwoofer enclosure and was just curious about wiring the factory amp to the rear deck speakers and by-passing the factory sub altogether. Wish I could remember where I put my owners manual...

Thanks in advance...

Found this info on Allcarguides.com:

Electronic AM/FM stereo radio w/compact disc, cassette players-inc: 100-watt amplifier, subwoofer & 4-speakers

I have a hard time believing that the amp/sub combo is 100 watts. My home stereo amplifier is 75 watts and it is WAY louder than my car...or am I comparing apples and oranges? Maybe the 100 watts is spread throughout the entire speaker system?

Thoughts and opinions welcome....

I wonder if after you install your sub system you can disconnect your factory sub wire from the factory amp that way the4 speakers will get more watts and sound better

The 100 watts is spread between all the speakers in the car.

As far as I know the sub woofer is 4ohms just like the normal car speakers.

So I would get a 4 ohm sub so the amp and sound is not cutting out on you.

You might want to PM Pop's to confirm this info though he has done several Marauder's and has a business doing stereo systems.

Thanks Leo...and thanks for the compliment on my cargo bin/spare tire mod. Ultimately what I'd like to have for a system is an aftermarket amp/sub, disconnect factory sub (6.5" really isn't a sub in my books, but whatever) and have the factory amp run the four interior speakers, which I plan to upgrade as well.

I have plans to change out my sub and get a new KenWood Amp to go with the rest of my KenWood system but just was not in the cards this year to do every thing.

The factory amp puts out enough with what my new head unit puts out so I have great sound and plenty of push for how loud I play my music without any distortion problems @ all.

As long as you stick with 4 ohm speakers for replacements and get a nice head unit I think you will be pleasantly surprised. just try to use either a sound cup or some type of barrier behind the speakers to seriously direct sound into the sitting area instead of every where in the car. The Boom Matt shallow speaker cups I used made one hell of a difference.

Pop's offers some good deals for the Panasonic set ups so if your interested in seeing what he has give him a shout.

Your welcome to the compliment!

Thanks for the info, Leo. BTW, I read your thread on how you painted your calipers...very nice! I was hoping to get that done to mine this weekend, but I can't find the color I want in a can. I've been searching for places that do powder coating in my area and found two yesterday, but of course they were closed for the Mem Day holiday, so it will have to wait. I thought there was something wrong with my calipers because the front ones are a lot bigger than the rear ones, but after looking at your pics I see this is normal...saved me from making a new thread! This website is awesome..such a wealth of information on it. If there was a 'Marauders for Dummies' book, I'd buy two!

 to the Marauder for Dummies!

What color were you searching for?

My better half wants me to do the same thing to the Taurus but in the bright silver flake blue on his calipers and drums. Which means of course I will want to do the valve covers to match them

As close to Tarheel blue as possible...I found pinstriping in the color and will powder coat my SS inserts the same as well as my valve covers...

Nope never ran past that color for high heat paint so I guess Powder coat is your best bet.
