Well, I finished making my sub enclosure early afternoon, but when I tried to install it, it didn't work out the way I had hoped, so back to the drawing board on that one. I then proceeded onto my next mod on my list, and lo and behold, it worked!!! And it only took 45 mins!! (I have a tendency to make a mountain out of a mole hill, so I was suprised it went so quickly)

Just my trunk (minus the junk)...nothing special. But wait! Something's not right...what could it be? Wait for it...wait for it....there's no spare tire! Who would drive around without a spare?

Peek-a-boo...I see you! There it is! How'd it get there?

How'd he get the spare to fit in there? The spare won't fit in the cargo bin, I've tried that....again and again!

Oohhhh....he cut the bottom and sides off cargo bin...how'd he do that?

It's a simple as using a jigsaw, my friends. Now I can put my sub enclosure where my spare used to be and with my spare in the cargo bin, trunk space is virtually the same!

:woohoo:

I don't know if someone has already done this...I conjured up the plans to make it happen in my pretty (well, at least not fugly) little head!

BTW, I have two cargo bin partitions/slats I'm not gonna need any more...PM me if you're interested in them.

Now I feel like I really belong...I finally did something to customize my MM!

Pretty slick, now can you cut one so a full size spare will fit???

Yeah, I thought about that when I was in the planning stages. A full size spare is wider than the cargo bin. The only remedy I could think of was to cut the bin into two seperate sections, then somehow reconnect them to make a smaller bin that would fit in the space not occupied by the full-sized spare. Guess I'll get to work on that when I eventually get a full-size spare...thanks for the compliment!

The only 'bad' thing about what I did is the handle on the smaller bin cover hits the rim of the spare and sticks up about an inch (actually 7/8...yep, I measured it!), so the bin covers aren't completely flush with each other. You can kind of see this in the first pic...

Nice job. So what kind of sub system you got?. I have a full size spare and 2 12 in a box that I'm going to do Sunday. don't really like having 100 pounds in the trunk

If you did a full size spare you would just need to make a raised false floor or covering board. MDF is good to use.

Nothing fancy or ear-splitting. Just one 12" Kicker CVR, an Alpine MRP-M500 amp, and an Alpine CDE103-BT HU, which I'm hoping will still allow me to use steering wheel controls and 6-disc changer.

Time to start the re-design of my sub enclsoure....God I love 4-day weekends!!!:)

I read about how someone on here use the steering wheel controls with an after market deck
