This might sound really particular, but i'm curious...

Just waxed the car last week and after driving, I want to keep it clean still so I always hose it off after I drive it. I only drive it on nice days and store it in the garage.

Was wondering if drying it off with microfiber towels would do anything to the wax job? I do this everytime I'm done driving it and am putting it away.

You do not want to rub in any surface dust or debrie or road grim etc. microfiber should only be used on a very clean surface. Look into some quick spray cleaner and shine stuff. But only use it when it's very lightly dirty. Or if your car gets dusty in you garage put on a cheap car cover on when you do

I'm talking about after driving it and getting ready to put it in the garage, I hose it off throughly to get rid of any dust, road grime, ect...Then dry it with microfiber.

Just wondering if drying it often with microfiber will do anything to the wax job or not?

Shouldn't be a problem. I use microfiber towels all the time to buff after waxing or to do a quick shine with Turtle Wax ICE. However, I wouldn't think that those small towels do a good job of absorbing water ... after they get soaked, you'll just be pushing the water around and have to get a dry towel to continue the job.

There are better car products for drying off the car. I used to use a Chamois but have found that the "Absorber" is much better. It can suck up about 8 ounces of water before needing to be wrung out. It comes stored in a plastic container that always keeps it moist and flexible and ready to use. Works great IMHO.

You may also wish to invest in a "California Duster". That's a real quick way to remove dust and loose road dirt from a freshly waxed or washed car.

Use a good Car duster before leaving the garage, If the car is clean, (no puddles, bird droppings, bugs) after your drive, Simply hose off and dry with a leaf blower. Some say the microfiber scratches are based upon the quality of the towel used, and how you use it. Making sure you keep the hemmed part away, etc. If you wash your your microfibers be sure NOT to use fabric softner, as it clogs the fiber and basically renders them useless. Some people use the Absorber and like it, I personally use the P-21s drying towel, been using them for years. (put away wet will increase longevity)

A leaf blower or something like it is your best bet

Detailer is the product you are looking for. Be very careful which microfiber towels you use many will remove much of the wax and some will scratch.

I only use microfiber for cleaning non-painted surfaces such as the interior or engine.

A water blade or leaf blower will work wonders:)

California car covers has a "jelly blade" will will bend to the shape of the car, like around fenders and other curves.

For a quick cleaning if the car been inside the garage then the duster works well.

You might want to look in a cover if the cars is sitting for a while.

Unless the car gets water spots on it and there is only Dust do like the others said get a California Duster.

If you have bird poop or water spots you can use an instant detailer with a micro fiber cloth to clean small spots easy enough. For instance when I travel to a show I always get bugs all over the front and the instant detailer that matches the wax I use sees to work great.

I bought the turtle wax black instant detailer seeing I am using their wax now.

Croftgate recommends microfiber:

"We highly recommend using microfiber towels for the application and removal of all CroftgateUSA products. Microfiber towels will make it easy to buff your paint to a stunning shine or remove stubborn dirt and debris from any surface. The static-charged, woven fibers absorb and grab dirt. Rotate your towel frequently to reveal a clean side."

I have one for the car, one for the truck. Spread it out, draw along the surface. It'll dry the whole top of the car in 3 or 4 passes. It'll do the truck in 5 (roof and all!).

My MM is parked in a carport, no garage choice, as I live in an apartment, Bought the California duster, got it Monday @ O'Reilly's, let it sit on a newspaper for 48 hours as directions stated???? Used it yesterday. Wow..What a product!!!! I use the P21s drying towel after washes, but going to go and get the water-blade and give it a try......

One thing to remember about the California Duster.... NEVER NEVER wash it. The dirtier it gets the better it works.

Since the Marauder's exterior was just reconditioned, I purchased new microfiber towels:

http://www.chemicalguys.com/SUPER_TOWEL_microfiber_towels_ car_care_products_p/mic_506_12.htm

When I do wash the Marauder (two times per year), I use a waffle weave drying towel.

Just started using FK 425, as it supposedly doesn't streak on black vehicles.

http://www.autogeek.net/finish-kare-425-detailer.html (http://www.autogeek.net/finish-kare-425-detailer.html)

I'll probably also pick up another Cal Car Duster.

You need to start using Croftgate stuff, so much easier than the old fashioned method, and superior results.

I just dried mine off for the 3rd time today with the "Absorber" and it rained AGAIN. Where the H3LL is this rain coming from? It pops up even if nothing is showing on radar. I'm done and it can look like crap for the rest of the week. :o Car is clean. It's the rain that is filthy.

I here ya Rex; but I just don't feel comfortable wiping grime on a dirty car without washing it first.

Im with you Charlie except last fall I was no where near a hose so I decided to give the croftgate stuff I won at MV8 a try to see if it really works. I was very impressed and it didnt leave a scratch or haze. Its great stuff and Im happy that I'll be able to get my hands on some more at MV9. There was also some mirror glaze in a black container with the red mustang on it. I applied it in direct sunlight in the hotel parking lot Friday afternoon and my car looked flawless.

100% agree with you Charlie, but since I've started using the Wash 'n Wax, I haven't put a hose to the car.

One oz. of this stuff

http://croftgateusa.com/buy-croftgateusa-products/wash-and-wax

a gallon of water, and two microfiber towels does the trick. Follow up with some Quick 'n Slick and you have an unbelievable finish on the car.

Russ and I did both his car and mine (complete treatment) in less than an hour, and my car had a week's worth of road grime on it.

I swear by the stuff.

What^^^He^^^Said!

I washed the Fusion with Croftgate a couple weeks ago and it was filthy!

You do not have to apply much pressure at all to wash/dry the car.

Dirt/grime comes off with ease and dries fast after using the dry microfiber towel. No spots either.

Fo' sho', incredible stuff.

And the great thing is you can do windows, paint, trim, everything, with the same stuff.

A quick "Mr. Miyagi" with the wet mircofiber towel, followed by a wipe-off and light buff with the dry microfiber and viola!

Yes, my Marauder never sees foul weather. I do clean/detail her after every drive, before returning her to the garage.

I also use a spray-on car wash like others mentioned, if there is more dirt/grim than a quick detailer can handle.
