I hooked up Justbob's custom air intake today. Worked out real nice! Here's a video.

Here's a pic of the switch I ziptied to the cruise control cable. Looks rigged, but it works great!

I thought of that, but ruled it out. Besides, the cover goes over it.

awesome hood..looks great..when you say true cold air intake, do you mean that by opening those vents you are letting the hot engine compartment air out as opposed to a ram air type system???

Nice job so far that will be a great way to let heat out of the engine compartment!

I guess for a TRUE cold air intake it would have to connect to a sealed air box. So I should probably just call it an "air intake/vent" once I cut the hole. I have a JLT and don't want to go back to the stock box.

You should consider boxing off your JLT to fresh air, then piping over to wherever is a good location front/center of engine using brackets on the fan shroud and a thick gasket to mate with the hole you cut. Simple, cheap, functionable air induction...

Most people dislike it considering the number of pages it generates every time its brought up... But you are 100% correct about be allowed to dislike as I find the stock hood one of the most flattest, boring examples that Ford could create (I'm allowed :) ). I LOVE criticism myself, it skips beyond the B.S.

Thanks for being honest, but yet polite about it.

Justbob,
You made one of the most beautiful hoods to be created by the backyard mechanic ever! You are a true craftsman! I will enjoy this hood for a long, long time!
Thanks Again!

I know for me as a Z-28 lover, the hood is awesome. Not everyone is going to like it but Bob wears big boy pants, it would take more than busting on a car part he made for him to think you were a hater. I think I was fifth in line for dibs on it, and that was a couple years ago. At least it went to someone and somewhere where I can see it again one day.

Did you ever gather any parts to make it functional?

I will swap my oem air box for the jlt so you can finish off a real cold air system. Nice work a real winner.

Aigs-actly!...a Mini-Me Camaro cowl induction hood on a Marauder...it is short enough to not look over-the-top, but only GM lovers would approve.
