Hey, all! Long time no see... A little over two years ago, my daughter was born, and my car hobbies took a backseat (pardon the pun). The Marauder has been my daily driver, and a great one at that, but for a couple of reasons, I’m looking at an F150.

The dealer offered me peanuts on the trade in, so I'm contemplating a private sale of my 2003 Mercury Marauder, and would appreciate some feedback on sale price. I’ve never sold a vehicle privately before, so not really looking forward to the process of dealing with tire kickers...

2003 Black 300A, with just under 90,000km on it. Windows are tinted and the paint is in good shape (a few little chips from rocks, or whatever). The interior is super clean and the leather is still soft. The car is garaged, and oil changes (Mobil 1) come every 5,000km. The Yokohama Advan ST's are virtually brand new (installed near the end of the summer tire season last year, F:235-50-18 and R:255-55-18), and the brakes were just done about 3,000 km ago (Akebono ceramics).

It has 410 gears, JLT and Lidio tuned Xcal2, OBDII gauge and aftermarket stereo (I will include a pioneer deck, 4 speakers and MTX 4-ch amp (I am pulling my sub and 5-ch amp out). I have all the original stock parts and stereo stuff in a box. Also including 4” resonator delete tips (never installed), custom carpeted trunk liner (never installed) and my winter tire setup (black steelies with Blizzaks mounted).

What do you think I should ask for, and what should I accept?

PS – If anyone knows someone in the market for a Marauder...

Thanks in advance

I for one vote yes on a F-150. I drive one, F-150 Kings Ranch, 4X4, Crew Cab, 2008. Great trucks. This is my 8th one.

HAHA awesome signature! Since 90,000Km is only about 56,000 miles Id say your car is still within the 1st quarter of its engine life. I would ask $15k and would not let it go for less than $12k. Good luck with the sale.

When I bought mine almost 3 years ago, it had 57 thousand miles on it (not far from yours) and was bone stock except for it was missing a few trim piece details like megs tips, rim centercaps, and floormats. I paid around $13K USD for it, so especially if you're banking on someone being more interested in it already being modded than stock, I'd second that you could reasonably ask for $15K USD (whatever that would end up being against the Canadian dollar).

For 12k it will go quick. This car does not bring tire kickers. Post it for sell here.

Good luck with the sale, but isn't the MARAUDER a perfect g0 fast Daddy car!

Mike, I remember seeing you a long time ago at Niagara Falls. At the Sheraton. You were the one who told me about mm.net. Anyhow, I'm guessing the dealership offered you around $4000- torwards trade-in. Correct?

I have had two serious offers for my Marauder(last year) at around $15,000. My Marauder has an extended warranty on it from Ford. So that does add value. I think you should advertise it at $18,000, and accept anything between $15-18. Alot of the other Marauders for sale are imported from the USA or they are very likely not to be as cared for as yours is.

As you know, the Marauder is the safest car on the road. Keep it. Do not sell it. I promise you would be regretting it.

LOL you guys really think he is gonna get 15k for a 9 year old car from the North East? It would have to be pretty spotless to sell for that much. If you want a quick sale, I would ask 12 and probably sell it for 10.

There is one in Hamilton that's been sitting on Kijiji for months. Got 53k and a blower on it. Guy is asking 15k and it still hasn't sold.

Don't know as if he's looking for a quick sale, just testing the waters, it looks like.

Also, don't think he's looking to get $15K out of it, that was just a suggested starting point, but I agree, that does seem on the high end.

I'm not neccessarily looking for a quick sale, but trying to figure out how much debt I would be in, if I made the switch (within the next week or two, we're also unloading the wife's 2001 Escape for an '11 Explorer XLT). Having said that, if someone offered me $15k today, it would be theirs tonight...

Trust me - I know how great the Marauder is, but I would really like something that can tow, and that ain't the MM's forte :o

I'm going to look at another F150 at a second dealer, this weekend. I'm hoping they offer me more on the trade (not holding my breath). I'd rather see it all (car, snow tires, extra parts, etc.) go together to a good home, but can probably sell some off the pieces (intake, snows, res delete tips, etc) to recoup some of the difference...

Peter - I do remember you, and see you're car from time to time (I live less than 5km from you). Glad to see you're still enjoying you car! You're close - the dealer actually offered me $5,500 on the trade :puke:

So if you offer it here for around $10-12k, somebody gets a great deal, you come out way ahead of what the dealer offered, and you get a quick sale to boot!

Everybody should be happy then.

Not to sure if you are aware, but the Crown Victoria was advertised to tow up to ~5000#s. Keep in mind this was in 2001 or so. However, it should still be around in that ballpark. The Marauder should be pretty close to that figure.

By the way, take a look at Heritage Ford, and ask for Bill Aitken. He is the new car sales manager. I found that Heritage has the best prices in Toronto(and Ontario!). Well worth a look.

I would stick to the suggestion of 15k.I've been watching them sell around here for 13999 to 18000 depending on the car.last year one of the blues sold for something like 13500.I have personally travelled all over ontario to look at them between that. And there are some nice ones availible and peolple around here want them!

I would add a "firm" to that 15k, I wouldn't take less for my blue with 25,000 more miles on it if i were selling, which i am not.

Our American cousins should know that you add 10%+ on everything here, just because :(, including used auto's.

That one is junk.
Here's one in Pembroke asking $37,000.00 CDN which is just over $38,000 U.S.

Well... I have decided to sell (assuming I can get the selling price I need). As much as I love the car, it's simply not a truck; I need truck-like features and don't want to use the Lightning for hauling. I will be putting it up, shortly.

As an aside, my wife's Escape is no more... Replaced with a 2011 Ford Explorer XLT. It's far better in ever conceivable way, including gas mileage :bows:
