Well......my compass quit AGAIN and upon investigation I found the same resistor had come un-soldered that was the culprit before!!!:argue:
I took it off the board and got my watchmaker's eyepiece to discover that the 51 ohm resistor (I originally thought it was a capacitor) is FOIL on ceramic with the black print on the foil off in one direction leaving VERY LITTLE foil to solder to!!:argue: :argue:
I looked through all of my conventional resistors and found ZERO 51 ohm ones so I attempted to re-solder the flat one and it is working for now??
If it quits again I'll fix it for good with a standard resistor or just a piece of wire......can't imagine that 51 ohms does very much but might be wrong!!:shake:
BTW...a Light Flint console is available (2 in Detroit) for $1074.00.......INSANE!!

I have those resistors. A SAE and $1.00 will get you one.

Good find and keep us posted?
BTW,... Does your compass read, for example, NE or does it spell out Northeast?
And do you have a glass covered hole in your roof?
Mike.

It reads "NE" etc. and is the shorty console but no Moon Roof!!

Interesting, as it was discovered a few years back at one of the Louisville meets that Hack Goby's 04 SB read "N", "NE", etc.. (no moonroof) as compared to mine with a moonroof spells out "Northeast", "North", etc..
Is this one of those known differences, or have I missed something all these years?
Mike.

BTW... I just fixed a compass that was sent to me. Found it has the same problem, no solder pad on one side of the resistor. That's why I have extra resistors. Had to order a quantity of 50.

2003 long console (because there wasn't a factory moonroof option) Marauders have the compass that reads "Northeast", "North", etc.
2004 short console (because there was a factory moonroof option) Marauders have a compass that reads "N", "NE", etc. Guess they tried to save money by shortening the readout :D
My 2003 reads "N", "NE" and I have the long console.

My 03 reads N, NE, etc, have short console (I think; haven't seen pics of long vs short) and a glass covered hole...
