I locked my keys in my trunk and my trunk release switch has never worked since I had my car. I dont want to go to the dealer and pay $300 for a key. I tried using the keyless entry code to open the trunk and that isnt working either. What else can I do?

Punch out the right reverse light or pay for a locksmith. Good luck..

Try the panel again to make sure you have the sequence correct. Enter the number THEN push the 5 key.

Why isn't the ketless entry or trunk release working?????
Call a locksmith to open the trunk.
You might be able to go to the dealer and get them to cut you a key.
No extra key or valet key??

Take out the backseat. Grab a coat hangar.

The code should work. Go over the steps in the owners manual to figure it out it's easy. If the trunk will only open with a key then try to take off or pull back the back seat just a lil to pull down the trunk release with a hanger. If not ask a lock smith 100 buck or less or ur insurance might do that for you

I have a spare tail light so I would consider breaking it. I tried the code and pushed 5 but the trunk still doesnt open. I hear a clicking sound but I dont think a connection is being made. By the way I tried placing my key into trunk opener and turned it and pushed the button to see if the trunk would open but it never opened before. It only opened with the key. I will try to take out the back seats and pull the trunk release with a hanger. Thanks for the suggestions. Ive never taken the back seats out before. I hope its easy. If it works Im getting a spare key.
I'd be pulling the back seat and using the coat hanger method, of course you are going to need a T-50 Torx bit to get the seat back out...

Go to the dealer and get a Non-PATS key cut to the key code. Call them and see what you need to bring to prove ownership of the vehicle.

It's the right reverse light. NOT the tail light if you go breaking anything. You bust it all the way through to the trunk area, put your hand through and the emergency handle is right there. I agree with trying the back seat method though. Less destructive!

Interesting... I've NEVER needed a T-50 Torx bit to remove my rear seat or the backrest. I've removed them a few times, just needed plain old sockets, 3" extension, swivel joint and ratchet. But mine is a 04 so yours may be different. The seat portion is held in place by two clips that hooks onto the seat. You press down and move the seat forward or backward until one side unhooks then you move to the other side (no tools needed for this). There's three nuts that hold the backrest in place along with the seatbelts. Remove all three nuts and lift the backrest up, also at the top of the backrest there are two hooks.

If my trunk goes for a long time without being opened, it will sometimes be sticky and not want to open by just pressing the release button on the door. Have someone push down slightly on the trunk lid while you push the release button and then have them pull up on the trunk while you continue to hold the button pushed. That may work for ya. Good luck.

That reminded me,... last weekend I hit the keypad code to unlock the trunk and heard the click, but when I got to the trunk, it appeared closed.
Gently pulled up on the trunk and it was in fact unlocked.

2 18mm bolts hold the seatback in place.....

I did not know that about rats... I learned something usefull today. Never had the trunk problem I do not remembering ever opening it. I have to try so I can see whats in there.

If you can't get it through the trunk take your registration to the local dealer and have them cut a key based on the VIN. When I bought mine I only got the valet key and my favorite dealer only charged my $47, $10 to look up the code and $37 for the key and cutting it. If I had known that the only difference was that the valet key was thicker I would have just got one from E-bay and had my favorite hardware store cut it. Then return to the dealership or a local independent as there are lots of aftermarket scanners that can program the key. You'll likely have to pay a 1/2hr min. Once you have 2 programed keys you can program the 3rd you buy off of E-bay yourself. Then if you loose a key you can always add a new "3rd" key.

Hey guys thanks for all the help. I got the trunk open but it wasn't easy. I took out the rear seats, and the back panel piece too, one rear speaker and I had to push my spare tire to the side. I used a flash light to find the key. I had my sons child seat in the trunk because I was cleaner the car earlier last week and I saw the keys on it. I used a crow bar to hook the keys on to it. Then it took a while to take my arm out of a hole. It took me about 1 hr. I will definately get some keys cut and not at the dealer either.
I'd be pulling the back seat and using the coat hanger method, of course you are going to need a T-50 Torx bit to get the seat back out...
Interesting... I've NEVER needed a T-50 Torx bit to remove my rear seat or the backrest. I've removed them a few times, just needed plain old sockets, 3" extension, swivel joint and ratchet.
Whatttt??? Ya mean Ford stopped using those blasted Torx on the seat belts/back supports??? Of course I'm thinking a model like my old '88 T-bird that have both retained with the same bolt...
You're no doubt correct, I surely ain't gonna pull the seat to try to prove you wrong...
You'll have to find someone that has the proper tool to program the first extra key. Many locksmiths and independent garages have the tool, though many shops may not even know that the scan tool they have is capable of accessing the security system and programing keys.
One note many locksmiths and showing up in some hardware stores now are programmable keys that they turn into to a clone of your existing key. With a clone as a second key you still can't program that 3rd key. The system will think you just reinserted the same key. You want someone to "open" the security system an add a new key. Call around and get some quotes. Since I have a scan tool to add the key so I don't know how much they would charge to program but the key itself at my favorite Ford dealer was cheaper than a clone key.

I locked my keys in my trunk and my trunk release switch has never worked since I had my car. I dont want to go to the dealer and pay $300 for a key. I tried using the keyless entry code to open the trunk and that isnt working either. What else can I do?

To do this the easy and cheap way, get a regular non-chipped ford key ($1.50), go to Ford dealer with registration, have them cut the cheap key which will open doors/trunk but won't start the engine. Maybe all of $10 invested. (Or if you have a good relationship with your Ford guy he'll cut it free if you buy the blank from him)
Then keep the dud key in the house for the next time! :)

I have a spare tail light so I would consider breaking it. I tried the code and pushed 5 but the trunk still doesnt open.
I don't have a trunk code, but I do have the door unlock code.
So is (door code) + 5 = pop trunk??

If you do it fast enough you can pop everything by hitting door code + 3 + 5

In case anyone doesn't know, pressing 7-8 & 9-0 simultaneously will lock all doors(hope you remember the correct code to get back inside)...
Code + 1-2 + any five digits will program a customer user code... Without replacing the keyless module, original code cannot be changed only added to...

Negative. New unchipped key just to open door is like $8.00
You need VIN and your name on the same paper (insurance etc) to get it from dealer.
I just helped a lady with a 2010 focus do just that.

Unless I am mistaken, there should be a 'Master' code and then whatever was programmed in by the owner.

Now think about tha post? The person's car (focus) was unable to use due to a lost key, so that means I wold have used the maruder to give them a ride to local Ford Dealer:)
