So as Doom was leaving, Eric began to egg him on resulting in this ...

Soon we were engulfed in a cloud of smoke. I think Ms. Denmark got the worse of it ...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v108/Firehawk02/Carlisle%202011/IMG_2234x.jpg

Then the security guard shows up evaluating the situation and gets on the radio.

Same security guard catches up to Doom with a "nice burnout, don't do it again"

Well done Doom.

Another point of view ..... there is a time and a place for everything. This wasn't it. As much as I love to see DOOM's smokey burnouts, this one was very misplaced and reflected poorly on the Marauder Group. That's JMHO.

Too many people, kids and other "priceless" vehicles in the area. This turned out OK; but it could have ended quite badly. Fortunately, he just got a reprimand, was escorted off the grounds by security, had his registration sticker voided, and was told not to bring the DOOM-mobile back on Sunday. Don't know whether this cost him a Carlisle trophy on Sunday or not.

Its all good fun until someone gets an eye poked out.

DOOM .... I love ya buddy; but ya gotta think these things through. This episode was NOT a good example of the Marauder gang. If they put the Marauders BEHIND the "Rock Climb Area" next year, we'll know why.

How did the security guy catch up to the Doominator? All that HP sould have kept him in the dust. And with all that bling, he should have been blinded by the reflection!

Not the best thing to do there, but man I'm sorry I missed it! LOL

Thank you! Glad I wasn't the only one thinking this. Am sure there were plenty of people there that weren't too happy about this. With kids around, etc, there is a time and place, and that doesn't look like it was it. There is car show etiquette.

I didn't hear anything from Val or Rick, but that may change next year when I have to get in touch with them for the tent and arrangements.
Not a great idea to do that as this is only our 4th year getting organized and our second year with our own class. Even the Mustang guys don't do that.
We'll see what happens in the coming weeks.

On a lighter note,
My friend Jerry was in the grandstand during the burnout contest and Jake drew attention away as everyone was looking at the smoke up on the hill. :D

Another perspective....Do we spend so much time trying to "out proper" or "out outlaw" each other here???

Back in the days of hotrodding this kind of stuff was common place. No big deal. From what my pea brain could see in the pic. the road was more than wide enough & Dooms markings were plenty straight. I'm not saying everyone should jump in, but this is not Dooms 1st rodeo. he obviously has the skill, and appraised the situation/opportunity and was fine with the risk. Others who are not, should not......

Now I understand, that there were alot of pricey vehicles and pedestrian traffic of all ages around, but you could have been Helen Keller and know what was up.... I personally go to car shows to relive some of my youth... Turning every car show into a museum event is well in my opinion boring.

Lastly, Its not a community thing to reflect on, its an individual choice. If one accepts some level of responsibility for what another does/does not do, its on them. We gotta get away from wagging the finger at every outbreak of a lil mischif. Its stiffling to the community imho.:o

I know I am gonna get some backlash from this, but its ok. I know I'm not gonna change another members opinion, and mine probably won't change either. I just thought I'd share and say alot of my friends probably don't agree with my opinion, but they are still my friends.

If you haven't been there I can tell you the roads aren't wide enough and for the people who don't know who's driving the car it is VERY not cool. There are a lot of children at these events. There are no car shows anywhere that allow burnouts in the middle of the parking area/show field where there is pedestrian/foot trafic.

You're WAY off on this one!

Its more of the unwritten rule that in a organized car show its dis-respectful to mark up the privately owned roads with tire marks. Its kinda like someone showing up and doing a burnout in your driveway.
As a group it makes us look bad that we support that kind of behavior. I thought it was cool to see and hear but the guys who own and maintain the property will think otherwise.

Don't know if I would go as far as saying its an unwritten rule, but I understand your point Blackened... I'll bet its more a "command control issue" than anything else for the venue. Certainly they don't want everyone doin it, or all hell would break loose, but I am sure they expect some mischif here and there.

Maybe were not expecting it from the bigboy car segment, but ya gotta expect the unexpected when putting on a show like that:)

Have not been to Carlisle, but from what I have seen on this site, Blackened300A has put a lot of time and effort into getting the Marauders in to that show and would hate to see that get taken away because of burnouts, etc. Yes, there is a little mischief at carshows showing off exhausts and stuff, but that wasn't some little burnout by the looks of the picture. Just my opinion. There is a time and a place.

This happened at the end of the day. Which is why the majority of the members didn't see it. The top of the hill where we parked was EMPTY!

There were only 4 cars up there and they were all off to the side!
Yes the road was wide (2 lanes) and nobody was in front of me (people or cars).

If you wasn't there to see with your own eyes then you wouldn't understand.

Its all good though either way you want to look at it.

I will step up and defend Doomie here as his action was in part a response for my teasing of him. It was very late in the afternoon and almost all the MM crowd was gone and most all the rest of the upper show field had emptied out. As you can see in the pics the fields are quite thin compared to say lunch time. I respect Bluerauder's opinion and he has a point but so does GaMike.
The golf cart guy caught up to Doomie at the bottom of the hill and admonished him. Jake(Doom) isn't a dummy and I'm sure he's been reprimanded before for doing the same thing at other shows. Heck he goes through 2 or 3 sets of rear tyres a year.
So if my egging on Doomie has resulted in any problems with the Carlisle events people I apologise but I suspect once the rain washes the rubber off the road it will be long forgotten about.
On a lighter note I got a call from Doomies Mom. She saw the pictures and she said if you wanted to see long posi marks you should have seen his underwear when he was a kid.:neener::D;)
