View Full Version : Mach 300 upgrade = WIN
Sniped a flawless Mach 300 in-dash 6 CD player for 185.00, talk about a difference! I had unhooked my factory bass/subwoofer/whatever you call it and set it aside in the garage to hook up an MTX Thunder I bought. Didn't get around to it before the radio arrived, but even without it hooked up, this "new" radio BLASTS!! I didn't bolt the old sub back up but have it leaning at an angle in the trunk, so today I plugged it back up and dayum, sounds goooooood. Pics:
Rex said "Cut the u-shaped corners off a coat hanger and use them to pull the old radio out." Guess what Rex? There's no way in Hell that will work. The plastic of the coat hanger is way bigger around than the openings of the radio. Prank me, will ya? So I called justbob and said "They sell them at Advance Auto for 6.99." Then he asked if I was alone and wanted to join him in a private chatroom to look at the latest additions to his tool collection. I said I had to go....

Works like a champ, all buttons on the steering wheel work, and it is louder than stock. The only part that sucks is no more casette player! :(
Guess I have to update then ol' tunes to CD's. For me, it is an awesome upgrade, mine was one of 71 Blues without the CD changer in the trunk so it was worth 185 bucks. Well, 200.95 after shippings and handleings. Now to wire up the MTX and the old bass. I have a bitchin' set-up in mind for them, stand by.

Why you $%&($cfm2!!!!
Yeah, the Mach doesn't quite sit as flush as the stocker. I tried banging it in with a mallet but smashed my overhead console about 11 out of 15 swings. Now no matter what direction I'm going is says the direction is FVL. Whatevs, I never used it anyway. I'm going to miss the dome light, tho, dammit.

You can't call what they do "playing" I think it's more like "just showing up"

Don't have or want to buy those u-shaped tools? I've repeatedly used 3" nails to do this in the past with great success.

Did this conversion several months back. I agree. The sound is way better than stock. I got a gread deal at $75.
Yes, mine too won't lock in place. No one can tell anyways.
The dash button that is for volume decrease will sometimes switch
the radio to CD. I purchased my removal tool off ebay for $1+ minimal shipping charge.
Here is the link to the one I bought, looks like there is another one for 135.

Hope to be takin' mine out this weekend; whoever was working in the audiophile dept in 2002-2003 hopefully got fired for designing a radio with a max volume limit...lost FMC a chunk of $$$ because people weren't allowed the opportunity to blow their speakers and pay for new ones.:shake:

Well I guarantee a Mach 300 will make a large by huge difference  I still havn't bolted my factory sub back in place, it is just leaning back in the trunk, and it THUMPS compared to stock radio. I was blasting K.C. & The Sunshine Band "Get Down Tonight" in traffic earlier this evening, lol. Sound holds up great at full blast, too. I was letting off the brake and bouncing the Marauder to the beat at each light, people were smiling and shaking thier heads, you could tell they wanted to disco, lol. Can't wait to hook up the other bass and really drown out the ricers around here. I must be getting old because I swear I'd rather listen to two cats ****ing than some of the crap they play.

A song for all MM owners in relation to the cops: They Can't Find Me
Best song on the album: Born to Roll
I have to thank you because I have been singing born to roll for a month while not knowing it while I thought I could endure what turned out to be an AC valve leak I repeated
"ya I have an air conditioner but I got the sound I want the whole to listen to" over and over. while I rolled up full windows down in the south cool running's now though :)
remembering that song and seeing you post it out was magic, I love this place

Same here, for many many installs. BUT the last one bent the tab and I had to get all surgical... :( Thats why I told him to just buy the proper tool and don't play carpenter. I had to break off part of that bent tab on a perfect Audiophile and put a couple deep scratches on the unit. That SUCKED.
Casey, foo, we need to swap our tunes! Oh wait. We both have the same stuff... Nevermind...

Laugh it up! My fingers were killing me after an hour of trying to use the damn coat hanger wires to get than damn radio out dammit, lol. I could get the radio almost out, then the wires would lose grip and SNAP!, the radio would pop back in. Went and got the stouter wired removal tools, bang, first try, radio slides out. Now, all conditions normal, carry on.
