What is there to say? We all know that not everyone "gets" our passion for the Marauder. Plenty of people see it as a conservative-looking, 4-door, semi-fast sedan.
All I know is that every time I take my Marauder out for a cruise, I am approached at gas stations and parking lots with people (including teens) who love it.
If those of us who own Marauders wanted a vehicle everyone would like, we'd just be another Corvette/Mustang/Camaro owner.

Boy, do I feel stupid now. I should have bought a BMW that looks 10 times better.
He just doesn't get it. And, from the pic of this dufus I suspect he hasn't gotten any for quite a while. :P

Each to their own I suppose. The reasons we are members of this forum is because of our mutual (and sometime obsessive) infatuation with this car. It's just one of those things that you either "get" or you don't "get". We don't need some yahoo telling us that our car is "slightly better than a crack pipe". Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

Since I started dating my girlfriend, even she is starting to notice how many people just stare the car down hard, up around her way. I think it's funny and annoying at the same time in a way.

Curious to know how you can determine if they are "Hard Up"? ;)

A couple of notes on the B26. Yes when first introduced it was a handful thus the name Widowmaker , however the wings were lengthened which made it a dream to fly. Operational losses were the lowest of any bomber in WWII. When introduced in Europe it could outrun the BF109 which if I'm not mistaken was built by BMW.;)
Did a good job on June 6, 1944 also.
Much misunderstood Marauder like our own.

It was made by Messerschmitt. BMW made some radial aircraft engines during the war, but as far as I know the inverted V12 of the Bf109 was an in house design of Messerchmitt's.
BMW Marine did make most of the diesel engines used on the u-boats though.....which we also had rather a good record against. :)

Never was one to fall for a dime-a-dozen "pretty face" in a car (or a man). I like 'em big and brawny. The Marauder is simply irresistible....and is often being driven by my kinda man. LOL!

Amen sister! Lol! When Paul & I first started talking he told me about the car which I Googled and in turn said "It looks like a cop car!" which he responded "You called my limited production prized possession a cop car! Its nothing like a cop car!" Lolol! And now I think I might be slightly more obsessive with the car than he is. :D Screw the people who don't "get" the car. Better for us who can just laugh at them as we ride away in it.

You tellin' us that nobody gawks at your SS?? I don't believe you!
As for the article, I can't believe someone did a write-up of a used car. Don't think I ever saw that before. Besides, it wasn't a trashing. There were actually some off-handed compliments. The Z8 is God-awful ugly.

lol, well, I get people that want to race more often, I imagine it's because this car doesn't look like a cop car to those that aren't in the know like the Marauder did. It does get a lot more attention from women though, but being spoken for (and happily so), that doesn't do me much good. :P As for just sheer awe on the road and at gas stations and such, to most it's just a regular Camaro with a mildly loud exhaust, no one really cares unless I tell them how low the mileage is, lol.
Am I on the same page with you guys, are you saying he's dissing the MM?
After reading the article several times I come away with the feeling the writer isn't sure of what he's got.
Understandable, because the MM is such a close relative of the other two Panthers.
But the whole car is much better than the sum of it's parts so driving the MM would be mandatory in evaluating the car against the Crown Vic (any variant) or the GM.
I agree with Embassy and ctrlraven, the car elicits positive comments at any stop light, parking lot or gas station.
Cheers,

The problem with living year-round in a summer resort area is that there are a great many...um..."summer residents"...who come from a state way down south...one that is famous for oranges. Those same people drive GMs and LTCs which therefore are a dime a dozen around here, so the MM is not recognised for what it is.
Having said that, I don't honestly give a darn whether someone appreciates the car or not...I didn't buy it to have people ooh and ahh over it, I bought it because I like owning cars that are "uncommon". My first new car was a 1985 Chevy Citation X-11. What IS an X-11 you ask? Exactly. My next car was a '94 Thunderbird SuperCoupe...same idea. Now we have Phoebe and The Blackbird. Even the local Mercury dealer once pointed at Phoebe and said: "that a nice Crown Vic there". I just stared at her. In the words of the late Phil Lynott (Thin Lizzy): "If that chick don't wanna know, forget her!"

Yup. The high wing loading made the landing speed high, but it was fast in the air. When they extended the wings, it made it slower, but it was still fast. BMW made the radial engines used in the FW 190 and some other planes. Also, a B-26, "Flak Bait" flew more missions than any other bomber in WWII. It's nose is in the Smithsonian.

Didn't get the impression he was trashing the MM...just the guy's asking price. Anyone who has bought/sold a car knows how this works; this guy is asking $9500 because his 'target price' is probably around $8500. If we sell a car, we say all good things about it to justify the price; if were buying a car, we bring up the 'little' or non-positive things about it to justify buying it at a lower price.
(There's one cent)
The KBB value on my 2001 Jetta VR6 is $4200; it's mileage is slightly higher than normal (135K), it has a dozen chips on front of hood, and other little things that keep me from asking $4800 for it in hopes to get $4K or $4200. I've got it priced at $3900 in hopes to get my target price of $3400, but I don't want to start at $3400 for I will have no room for negotiaion; you gotta let the buyer have a little bit of nego power.
(There's two...)
I agree with those that posted you either 'get it' or you don't about the MM. For example, I know a lot of people drool over the Chrysler 300 (including my 14 y/o son), but it doesn't do anything for me.:puke: MMs are rare and those that own them love to tell people about their MM! I know I do.

Oh I'm quite aware of the awesome allure of the Chevy Citation! I had an '84 (wasn't an x-11) but it still did a pretty good job of getting me through college
used to have it for the longest time as my signature:

Wait a minute....you say it wasn't an X-11 but your old sig says it was. Are you telling us you cloned a 1985 Chevrolet Citation X-11?!?

The X-11 was primarily a cosmetic package, but it did have a sport exhaust with specific dual-outlet muffler which sounded nice and came with wider tires and aluminium wheels that were only available with that package. My point was that I only ever saw one other than mine in the 9 years I owned it.

ha! Nah that's not my car. Someone on the TA forums made the sig for me because i'm such a n00blol
Anyhow, i really don't think I even have one picture of my old Citation. Never had a digital camera until about 2 yrs ago. There was a thread on TA about cars people drove and I said Chevy Citation. No one new what it was so I googled image searched and found that picture. Then someone turned it into a signature for me.
ah memories
