I handle all interior and engine detailing, along with exterior maintenance. However, when it comes to professional detailing, I leave it to the.....professionals.

After much searching, I finally found a local detailer who would give my Marauder the attention it deserved, vs. the wham-bam, thank you ma'am quick turn around detail shops in town.

Here's the detailer's thread and his pics.

http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/show-n-shine/36863-marauder-black-detail.html (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/show-n-shine/36863-marauder-black-detail.html)

As they say, pics do not do justice. I've owned the Merc for several years and she has never looked this perfect.

For those of us who do not have the time, money to invest in the proper materials, techniques, etc... I highly recommend you search until you can find a true professional.

I will post up my own pics soon.

If you're in the Louisville area, look up Jon at PAR.

Looks damn good!

I like the plate too.

OK, Where are they located and how much will this set me back as I seriously need this level work done on mine.

Mike, I thought of you, since you're so particular too about your Merc.

We finally have a local detailer who does superior levels of work.

I'll shoot you a PM with the details.

Cool.

I cannot find John's contact info after Googling it.

Send me that too.

I didn't think your car could GET any cleaner, but that is a real difference. How long did he work on it?

Neither did I!

He kept the Marauder for a full-two days and who knows how many countless hours were spent working. He told me it was quite the job.

For two days of work and an obvious attention to detail (note all the masking), he charged me $225.

I think that is very reasonable considering the typical, quick-turnaround shops in town charge $200, and note the mistakes John corrected from these other shops.

^^^^ Once you've got a good "base" to start with, it's easier to maintain.

Here's a pic of my Mustang hood (looking down from the front; reflection of my garage) after spending an entire Saturday detailing at home.

For the quality of work received, I would say that was $225 well spent.

Beautiful, just beautiful! Worth every penny. The last time I had mine done, cough, professionally, I spent a full three days redoing it myself.

Nice,
Do yourself a favor and spend some more time on autogeek and study proper car washing a drying techniques, buy a grit guard or 2, buy some Sonus waffle weave drying towels.
I also have become a big fan of the new Zaino blonde border free towels over the microfibers. I have found that many high end microfiber towels leave micro-marring on a perfect finish.
Washing your car improperly will get you right back where you started so fast it is scary.
Once you get your finish to the glass stage it takes very few mistakes to mar it up again.
But it is worth every minute of trouble, NOTHING looks better than a perfect show car finish in black!!

So so true. I did the exact same to my brother's 95 S500 after he bought it. The paint was even worse being almost 10 years older. I did it over a span of 3 days, and it was so worth it. I couldn't believe it myself. I don't let him touch it.
I have a special towel that I use to dry it. Not sure of the material, a friend gave it to me. It wash it every time I use it, and then keep it in a bag to protect from any contaminants.
Here's a before and after pic.
