hey guys,
there is a strange "clunking" noise coming from what seems to be the back end of my marauder (almost sounds like its coming from the trunk). it is worse when i first start it up and get going and seems to go away after driving for a while. it is also worse when i go over bumps. i suspect it may be an issue with the suspension...
do you guys have any ideas? thanks

How many miles do you have? Could be a control arm bushing, I ripped one of mine within 60K miles.

You can check out Sparta performance and upgrade the handling with a new set of control arms. Or you can just have new OEM bushings pressed in. Either way its a quick easy fix.

Sparta Ca's are Awesome!!! You can even get colors.
While it's up on the lift you might think about Watt's links and Addco stabilizers bars. Sparta has a package deal for all the suspensions goodies. If your car has high miles get a new set of rear shocks while your at it. I went with OEM on the shocks.:)

I have the same clunking noise, found out that it was a leaking rear shock. Hope this helps...........

Control arm bushing, bad shock, exhaust system hangar...get the car on a lift and start poking around.

ive been under the car and also had it into two mechanics. no one can find the source of "the clunk". body mounts, bushing, ect all look good. i guess it could be a leaky shock. i might just try replacing the rear shocks-wouldnt hurt.
any suggestions for replacement shocks??

Is there a bump stop on the MM for the rear axle travel? I had a clunk on my 'stang and it turned out to be a loose bump stop.

just in case anyone wanted to know, it was a blown rear shock causing the noise.

i replaced them with monroe gas magnums (severe service), same ones used on iowa state trooper crown vic. ive got a buddy at the state garage, i got them for about $35/each (probably about the same as street price). i put them on myself and it wasnt too bad. my right rear shock was totally blown so i had been driving like an old man. its nice to actually be able to DRIVE again! they feel good, will be interesting to see how they hold up...
