Ive searched the thread so no flames please.
Thought I might replace my air filter and picked up the Fram that according to their book is the right one, a CA 5056. Looks the same and fit fine. Ive read the threads for the "Marauder Only" FA 1745 but when I looked at the one that came off my car it says "Marauder Only" with a Motorcraft number of FA 1805. Whats the difference between the FA 1745 and the FA 1805? Ill assume the CA 5056 has less CFM, is that going to negatively affect my cars performance to any great degree? Seems to run ok with it but if its not getting enough air that could be a problem later. Please no responses to change to JLT/K&N. Thanks in advance.

Whats the difference between the FA 1745 and the FA 1805? Motorcraft discontinued the 1745 a few years ago. In 2005 (IIRC) they upgraded the airbox in the CV to take the same filter as the Marauder, and changed the number to 1805. I believe they are in fact the same filter.
Ill assume the CA 5056 has less CFM, is that going to negatively affect my cars performance to any great degree?Using the WIX site, as they have good technical info, their equivalent to the 1805 flows 450 CFM, while their equivalent to the FRAM CA5056 flows 320 CFM. While this may seem like a big difference, you car will not need that much flow even at WOT, so unless the filter gets significantly clogged, the 5056 should be fine.

Thanks for the info! Guess Im ok with the $5 Fram 5056.

Motorcraft FA-1805 MARAUDER ONLY
450 CFM
still available FA-1032 OEM for Crown Victoria / Grand Marquis / etc.
320 CFM
RF Overlord ... In 2005 (IIRC) they upgraded the airbox in the CV to take the same filter as the Marauder, and changed the number to 1805.
The airbox change ( to Marauder-like ) occurred in 2004 and only on the P71s. And even then, the air filter is the FA-1032.
But then you could have ALWAYS used the Crown Victoria / Grand Marquis air filter in the Marauder's airbox ... it did fit / seal.

Thanks for the clarifications, Joe. I hate giving out partially correct advice.

Once again this thread proves useful. Dealer said that they couldn't find my air filter. Told them about the FA1805. Sure enough, it's available.

I looked at my air filter today for the first time, the dealer always checked it during oil changes, turned out it was a K&N drop-in...:D
What cha' think? keep, clean, oil, and reinstall it, or just go stock? Any real difference between K&N drop in and Stock?

@ 6K rpm you will need at least 400 CFM.
Use the Marauder specific paper element or the K&N or Fram permanent/clean & oil filters.
FYI - for those who don't know the way to calculate it:

Keep it or get a JLT CAI.
If you keep it go to any FLAPS and purchase a K&N filter cleaning kit.

There IS a small difference from stock (albiet not night and day); but the real advantage there with the K&N, is that you never have to buy another one.
