I currently only have the factory Mercury keyless entry/trunk/PATS/etc system on my 03. However I spend lots of time down at court in the ghetto and am looking to upgrade my alarm to something that will tell me if the car is being stolen/wheels being stolen/and remote start.

Having had Ford do a horrible install job of a Ford Gold Series remote start/alarm and a bad install by another installer of a Code Alarm 650 on two different CVs, I am looking to go another way.

I am now looking to go with a Viper system and have a highly recommended installer install it. However I am looking to buy most/all of the parts and take them to the installer sealed in box, as I can save some serious dough on sensors, etc over having the installer charge me for it.

So the two systems I am looking at are the Viper 5901 and 5902. However it appears there is no difference except a color LCD screen for $100+ more?? Or is there something I am missing, I tried googling but no one really compares the two... If the 5902 was a huge improvement I would consider spending the extra, but not just for a color remote.

Also I know I will need a bypass module for the key so it can remote start...but will this make it easier for a thief to steal the vehicle since you no longer need the coded key in ignition? Also is there a certain bypass module I should get or does it matter?

Suggestions?

Thanks

Two words. Well one word hyphenated. LO-JACK. Works for me.

Had considered Lojack and its still not completly out, however very few PD cars in my the zone where I live have the ability to track lojack for one, and two it won't get me remote start etc. Its not out completly would just be another thing to add I think.
