C&O Atlanta Moving - July Canceled

Ok guys and girls, time for some facts. First off the event has not been cancelled. Yes we have lost our venue, but I was already working on another location close by. I recognized problems with Mansell Crossing, mainly the lack of Caffeine! Starbucks tried hard and we thank them, but we've outgrown the location.

That said though size was not the primary reason we were told to leave. For that reason we all need to look in the mirror. We had a number of burnouts, people parked in fire lanes, and the group along the main road egging on departing participants to " do something stupid!"
As I mentioned I'm working on a new venue, but we need to clean up our act, or the same thing will happen. Frankly I'm willing to try this one more time, but after that...

Unfortunately it only takes a few to spoil it for the rest.

More to come soon. But for now keep checking the site and please DO NOT go to Mansell Crossing for the July event.

Thanks for the invite slickster. I would love to join up with some members here in the ATL for a "poker run" to regional events like this one. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make the 25th. Maybe the next one:beer:

With success comes complications. Seem like I heard this some time ago. It applies to car gatherings as well. When you need a venue for 80 or 100 cars it pretty easy to find something. For 1000…
After talking with folks from the city of Alpharetta I’ve decided to try to do this right. C&O can now be called an event, and as such I need to go through channels in order to locate a spot that we can hopefully call home for more than a few months.

Now that we have quite a few generous sponsors (http://www.caffeineandoctane.com/index.php/sponsors/) I can pursue making the event official. To do so will require money (what doesn’t?) as insurance for the gathering will be required. Also I’ll be hiring at least one more off duty officer. Clean up will be another item.

Unfortunately I don’t think this will occur in time for the July event. Lots of key people are going out of town next week including myself (work, not vacation). From what I’ve heard it would have been a smaller group anyway due to the holiday weekend.
I’d like to say thank you for all your emails of support, and suggestions of new venues. It’s always a pleasure to read how much folks enjoy the show.
