They may be real Mercury Marauder jackets, but they aren't the same as the free jacket you got when you were the original purchaser of a 2003 - 2004 Marauder.
The tag should look like this ....... as both mine do.

What he said! These jackets are replicas. Look at the tag of the jacket in the ebay pics. They arent the same.
Very good replicas though.

The original jackets were NOT sent to the dealer.
You should have gotten a post card from Ford / Mercury congratulating you on your purchase and offering to send you a jacket.

But, anyone know the address?

The original jackets were NOT sent to the dealer.
This ^^^^^ is true. Unless however, the dealer got L/M to send the postcard to the dealership address for the so-called personal touch in delivering the jacket to the customer. Not saying this happened here .... but a dealer ending up with jackets is suspicious to say the least. Read below.
BTW -- During my purchase experience, not one person mentioned the jacket. Not the salesman, not the sales supervisor, not the financial folks and not the service rep. The car valet who brought my new MM around front and swapped the license plates on the car casually mentioned "Hey, you get a nice leather jacket with this car". I went back into the dealership and asked what's up with the jacket deal? Was like I caught them in the cookie jar. At that point they made some notes and told me that I would get a postcard in a couple days from L-M. After 2 weeks, I called up about the postcard and the jacket and was told that my sales info was delayed going for FORD HQs. Got the postcard several days later and the jacket not long after that. Could be that my jacket was headed to E-Bay until I kept after it .... thanks to the tip from the Valet guy.

I am aware of that.....I got the number to one guy that was supposed to be distributing them....talked to him off and on for about a year...and nothing.....then called him one day and found out he was no longer there and started dealing with another lady.....and still nada. I never got a card from the Ford or Mercury, but I did get a letter from them....no mention of a jacket.
Oh well....I have learned to live with out it.
Heck....I didnt even know I was entitled to one till I joined here.

One problem with that story..............
If the dealership got all the post cards, highly unlikely since mine came from Ford and not the dealership, the tag inside the jacket would say "OWNER".
Since the jackets in question DO NOT say "OWNER", I'd surmise that these were not given to people that actually bought a Marauder new.

Yeah, you're right. My jacket say's "OWNER" and came directly from F-L-M (or whoever handled it for them). Guess I should have looked closer to the jacket pic on E-Bay.
As I recall the early days, F-L-M really had no intentions of carrying the MM jacket offer into the 2004 model year. Jacket production lapsed and when '03 owners and '04 owners started talking (at MM events) some amount of pressure was brought to bear to reinstate the jackets for '04 owners. There are probably a bunch of late '03 and early to mid '04 purchases that fell through the gap.

The one I bought on ebay about a year back, I think must have been from this guy. I'll have to check. The seller is in Michigan, right? Anyway, guess I'll be looking for an original also then. But at least that means I can wear and enjoy this "replica", lol. Because once I get an original, it sure ain't going to ever be worn.

It was Beanstalk Productions that handled the jackets they deal direct with Ford on stuff like this. I belive the man in charge was Alan Pointer at the time.

Maybe repops but the look pretty darn good for that. Makes me wonder if Vendor for Beanstalk is who made these the amount of time in effort put into these if someone didnt already have the lay out would be a financial loss unless they sell approx 500 of them. One strange thing though look at guy on e-bay he is selling other leather items.
Lastly were all groning about the Jackets and if a dealer highjacked them (highly doubtful) What about the folks who got one and then sold there car but kept the Jacket would be kinda the same thing. Heck back in 02 I got mine in less then a month after returning the postcard to them.

While I cannot explain the tag being different from most of ours, I seriously doubt these are 'knock offs' as the jackets are identical in every respect that I can see.
It's not inconceivable these were protypes that were not accepted by Mercury and never released to the public nor destroyed.
I think it would be cool to have one of these, especially if I didn't already have one.
BTW,.. when I purchased my MM, me nor my Delaer knew anything about the jacket.
It was MM.net that I found out about the jacket and made a phone call, gave Alan my VIN and jacket size, then received it within a week.
Mike.
If I remember correctly, mine had a brochure of the jacket and other Marauder items that could be bought (like shirts and hats) attached by one of those thin plastic clothing tags, to the sleeve. Do the e-bay ones have that?
btw,.. When i purchased my GM, me nor my delaer knew anything about the jacket.

Since the jacket is flawed due to the missing "owners" wording, then no one would mind if I wear the jacket as my daily jacket? Its a really nice jacket. Seeing as its not a purist "keep the jacket unworn mint in the box because its a piece of auto history" kind of thing?

The jackets are what Beanstock was selling to anyone that wanted to buy one. The only jackets that said "owners" were provided at no additional cost to car owners. Same jacket but a distinction to an "owner" and then anyone else that wanted to buy one. Same jacket, just the difference in the label. Beanstock showed the jacket in their brochure. MotorCityMarauders had the opportunity to sell some of the remaining "owners" Beanstock jackets a number of years ago. That's how I got mine.

When I ordered my '04 Silver Birch, the dealer told me about the jacket. Since I purchased the first Marauder from this dealer (in April of 04), he did some research into the car. After driving mine on delivery day to his dealership, he ordered one for himself. Since Ford pulled the plug on Mercury, and he really could't make it on Lincoln alone, he switched to a Suburu dealership.
He was so up front about the jacket, that I trusted him until the day he closed his doors. It was nice to know that there are a few honoest dealers out there.

I only ask cause if I get one I'd likely be CCW'n when wearing it.

Just received my XL and it is perfect.A friend has the original jacket and we compared and the jackets are identical. Apparently the seller has both "owners" and non owners jackets. I specified I wanted "owners" and he sent one no problem. Also you can bargain with him for a fair price
Interesting note I received my Musclemerc catch can on the same day and it was also extremely well made and easy to install. When installing be sure to follow his directions and take your time it will be worth it. And no! I did not wear my jacket when I installed the can but it was a great marauder day!
