Question of the moment:

I would like to do the S55 treatment. Why? Well it looks COOL!

I have talked to a couple of paint guys and they gave me some quotes. All good and no problem (not cheap). However, one of the guys I work with suggested that I use the Duplicolor Auto Spray Paint. It is definately a cheaper route ... but I want to know if anyone has used it and what kind of results have they seen.

I was also thinking about using this to paint the new slats in the grill when I go badgeless.

Thoughts?

Thanks!
Anthony

I'll have Sherm post here tomorrow for you. As long as you can tape well and know how to wet sand and buff you can make it look good.

Dupi Color Perfect Match paint is the right stuff. I don't know what you are trying to do, but I have repainted bumpers and repaired and painted body sections with dupi color. It is a perfect match and feathering, sanding and buffing can be done as soon as 12 hours. Done properly and with care and time you can get results as good as any professional paint shop, but it will take time.

Thanks for the info.

I want to paint the tail lights and back up lights (S-55 treatment). I will also need to paint 6 ribs of my grill, when the Mercury logo is removed.

Do you happen to know the color code to order from Duplicolor Perfect Match? I can not find the paint code for the DPB (DX) on their website. I emailed them but no response yet.

I am eager to get the job done.

What is the Ford Part number for DPB? Auto Zone, Advanced Auto and Pep Boys can not fine Dupi Color "DPB". It may be too rare.

Maybe on Marauders; but I have seen the same Dark Blue Pearl (DBP) on Crown Vics, Grand Marquis, Lincoln Aviators, and Ford Freestyles (including my wife's).

As Rex said, Ford Color Code is "DX" and the part number for the touch up bottle at Ford is PMP-19500-7083A.
