Hi there. I'm about to tackle the brakes at all 4 corners this weekend, including the parking brake. I use my p-brake almost every time I park, and I'm just wondering what the chances are that the shoes have worn through the backing plate(s).
Has anyone who has replaced their p-brakes noticed any wear on the backing plates? Was it severe?
I've seen this in the past on my previous Merc's, but never went to the trouble of changing the backing plates.

If there is any wear you might be able to smooth it out with a grinding wheel.

You won't find much for wear. However, over time the lining can delaminate and come loose. Just change em.

Any damage to the backing plates is bound to be rust related not wear. The whole mess is avail from the dealer but only comes with the caliper brackets
