View Full Version : broke the car
Headed to Milan raceway today passed tech let the car cool down, went to the staging lanes car was running @10 hotter than normal, something didn't seem right pulled out of the staging lane. Let the car cool off and headed home but was still running hot all of a sudden temps stated to peg. Pulled over to the side of the road & found engine coolant side hoses piping hot and radiator side was nice and cool. Pulled the thermostat out found it was stuck closed, left it out put the car back together and drove it home all was good. just ordered a Reische 170 thermostat:2thumbs:

Jeezum! Your title is "Broke the car". No you didn't you knob! :D Good to hear it was a minor issue and you were using your head and paid attention. Good call!
Yea nothing catastrophic but thanks to my Aeroforce gauges I was able to catch the cooling issue before it became an engine problem. Moral of the story trust your instincts I may have blown the engine if I had made a pull.

Excellent thermostat (Reische). I installed mine & cooling problems disappeared. Cost a little bit more but craftsmanship is outstanding.
You won't be disappointed!!!
Glad you pay close attention to your gauges.

Yea, I have two of them along with a A/F ratio gauge in my pillar pods I highly recommend at least one if not two

Agreed on the Interceptor, and I second your recommendation!
