Thanx Racer X! yeah the price is $480 weather you go 9.5, or 11" after that (first 3")it cost more, im not sure what the increase is but 18x11 is the max for our cars, anything more and it would come past the wheel well (fender lip) im very pleased with the way it turned out:banana:

About how close is the tire to the shock? Looks good. I went with a 1/4" spacer for my 9.5's.

About 3/4-1/2:eek:" but it clears it, i took it on a spirited drive as a "real world" clearance check!

That really looks good. Now yoour car has a much meaner stance to it. When you change to the MT's will there be less space to the shock and what type of shock are you running now? I'm about two weeks from sending mine to get widened to 9.5. You may have just changed my mind to a 10 or more.

Thanks man! yeah the m/ts are 12" wide so it will be closer to the shock, stock shocks for now, but im going with a set of qa1s (my next mod), and a metco watts link
Keep in mind if you go 10" you must run a 1/2" spacer, and 3" studs to make them fit, just fyi (not a big deal)

Do you happen to know what the limits for torque and /or hp on the spacers. I read somewhere to not go more than 1/8" when you have a lot of torque. If I do mine at 9.5 or even 10 I think i'd still need about a 1/8" spacer. I'm running only 432 of torque, hopefully the spacers will hold that. if I know for sure they can handle that and more I'll definitely go to widen more with a bigger spacer as well. Yeah I think qa1's are not as bulky as our stock shocks.

I prolly wouldnt run this set up on the track (since i rarely go) i would run a 10" wheel , but then again once my motor is built im looking to make 800hp with a centrifical s/c knowing me i would try it a time or two, i realy dont think i would break anything, but im more of a street guy as opposed to the track (no i dont street race) well any more!
yeah the qa1s are a bit slim compared to the oe shocks, im not sure what the hp/tq limits are on the spacers

Thanks. I'll probably go 10 with the spacer for now and price some shocks. Now if I can only make it tp the UPS store before they close.

Yeah with somewhere in that HP range youre gonna want screwed in full slicks on like a mustang wheel. Pretty much the same here will go to the track a few times a year, just fun having that kinda power on the street. Enjoy the new look

Why not try a hub centric spacer but put longer studs in the axle shaft. The studs will go through the spacer instead. Wouldn't that be strong enough for drag racing?

Unless you upgrade to larger studs the longer stock diameter studs won't be able to handle the torque. Found this out with my son's Camaro. We ended up going to 5/8" studs in the correct length.

Thats correct, the problem i would run into is finding a stud long enuff to pass thru a 1.5" spacer, and have enuff to securely bolt on the wheel!
I had that set up with my 10" wheels, but if i find some studs in the correct length which im sure i can it prolly would be stronger for the track, but i rarely race my car at the track, for the street its more than enuff
Ill look into this once my motor is built if i feel the need

Does anyone make a hubcentric spacer out of steel, or S.S. That would be strong, and not much rotating mass.

If not, im sure it could be fabed, keep in mind these are billet aluminum spacers there very durable about 6-7 lbs each!
If you held one your concerns would be put rest i asure you
unless your ripping consistent 1.4, or better 60ft times this aint gonna be an issue

I'm not worried about me, I don't have that kind of power. Just wondering whats available. If I had to I would make some at work out of S.S. Alum. is 1/3 the weight of steel.

Agreed....:agree: Too but the problem in my case the OEM studs are too smaller for the spacers so in my next visit to my mangs in Pep Boys I will buy longer studs to be changed and then I will put the spacers. :burnout:
