Well I had a litlle extra time at work, so I got playin around with my calculator a little. I came up with the following that some of you might find interesting who are considering a gear change. Be advised; The speeds are in MPH and were calculated as max in each gear for a 6000 rpm redline and using stock tires (28.5" diameter)
-------- 1st---- 2nd---- 3rd------ 4th
3.55-- 49.6--- 93.4--- 140----- 200.1
3.73-- 47.3--- 88.9--- 133.3--- 190.5
3.90-- 45.2--- 85----- 127.5--- 182.1
4.10-- 43----- 80.9--- 121.3--- 173.3
4.30-- 41----- 77.1--- 115.6--- 165.2
4.56-- 38----- 72.7--- 109----- 155.9
Keep on keepin on!

I think about half of those top speeds are theoretically impossible anyway for the Marauder with a stock body/suspension, so yah...

lol. I am now a Drill Instrustor at our newly opened juvenile boot camp for troubled teens that we feel still have a chance. They hit the rack at 2100, so not much to do after that.

Very interesting. In another thread I mentioned a very short article in the Dec issue of MM &FF that described the achievements of a stock '03 Mustang setting a new C-Superchrged speed record at Bonneville. In the article it said the driver intended to do 200mph but had to settle for about 178 becuse the wheels were not certified for higher than 180 mph. The car was from georgia to Bonneville and back. I'm not sure there isn't some very tall top end available. Bob

Comment
I have verified the 120 mph. But isn't that 173 on the high side?

Axle ratio x Trans ratio (3rd gear) to get overall ratio which =
4.10 X 1.00= 4.10
Rpm’s divided by overall ratio= 6000/4.10=1463.41 (1 rpm) remember 4.1 turns of the driveshaft equals one rotation of the wheel/tire
To get the circumference of the tire, I did this: The specs on our tires says they turn 724 times per mile at 45 MPH so I divided 5280 by that which is 7.29281768 feet.
RPM’s is revs per min so multiply that by 60 to get feet per hour, which is 437.5690608
Divide 437.5690608 by 5280 (1 mile) to get MPH, which is .082872928
So 1 RPM ( of the tire) =. 082872928 MPH
If the engine is at 6000 RPM’s The Tire is turning 1463.41 times
1463.41 x .082872928 = 121.27 MPH
So now just plug in the OD overall ratio into the equation (4.10 x .70)= 2.87
6000/2.87= 2090.6
2090.6 x .082872928= 173.3 MPH
This of course would be in a vacuum with no wind resistance present so in order to theoretically achieve that top speed you would need some major horsepower.
