View Full Version : Whipple/Max boost!?
Question for you guys using the Whipple (2.3) blowers. What's the MAX BOOST you can run on these monsters?
Also for those of you on here running the whipple what HP/TQ numbers are you seeing now and at how much boost???
And last question. Has anyone here had theirs ported?
Thanks! :D :D :D

Doom, 2.3 is efiecient till about 24lbs boost, However you could spin it faster then that but not really sure it does anygood. Ive seen some cobra guys higher then 24lbs with never having problem. However keep in mind alot of people who have alot of experience with these blowers will probably tell you anything over about 20-21lbs you should really consider e-85 rather then 93 octane to keep things safe, unless you dont mind pushing it to the edge. Another to keep in mind these #'s are with running a gen1- 2.3 / not sure how the later gen2's-3's compare. Not all people will agree with this I know some out there are spinng them alot faster then that. As for my set up 8:5.1 Alluminator with later gen1 2.3 is @ 20lbs dynoed out at 545rwhp/552 other benefit is a whipple is known to cool quicker & less parasitic loss then a Eaton ported or not. I will say this I have heard from several people who had lower#'s from were mine was tuned then other dyno's like a cobra guy had tuned at 578rwhp on same dyno mine was tuned on it only showed 549rwhp? Kinda makes sense to me cause my car to me feels more then 545 so maybe it is really about 570-580?? I plan to get some pulls (no tuning) on another dyno in near future Ill let you know. Another difference eaton at higher r's the A/F can begin to erradict were atleast on mine it is flat all the way across which is what you want. Anyway you look at it you will gain more then you think swapping eaton for whipple its a win/win The best advice I could give you is call whipple tech line there very helpful & knowledgeable
I debated having ported but elected not to it seemed to me not alot do it and the ones who do havent done a large amount.

What Bodyman said. You can expect more from a gen 2 from his gen1 and you can also get the inlet without the 2 bores for a single blade TB. You can expect 600rwhp at 20 psi.

Chris is on the money. On avg it is around 20rwhp diff throw the widemouth TB in there + gen2... Mine has twin bore inlet Iam running a twin 65mm BBK. Chris Iam curious what #'s I come up with vrse dyno it was tuned on by Tim B. My car to me feels like 565-570?? but there again maybe his is on the money at 545. Members on here running t-trim vortechs @ 20psi 8:5.1 motor making very close to what mine is. you know cards are against us due to auto vs cobra thru t-56

I wish I could have afforded a brand new one. However I got a great deal on a used, there is a slight growl from rear case bearing (seems alot of gen1 have this) but otherwise:D it still screams

They both for sale. After one of the car sales I will start getting it ready for dyno, I already have sum parts in The garage waiting on install. We shall see what it makes on the rollers in about a month.

Just the blower, inlet, blower pulley and blower plate. You would still need the rest of the eaton swap stuff. Lower intake, IC, Brackets, COT.....

Yeah I'm still gathering "stuff", I still plan on calling on you when the trunk of the Marauder is full of parts. DOOM mentioned a bunch of us meeting up, that would be a crazy time.

I know that feeling all to well myself. I need to decide but something has to go before I go anyfurther with my SB. After the hot weather this week Iam having 2nd thoughts about letting my A2A 03 go. That Whipple becomes a little bit of a slug in 98* 90% humidity weather. Were as the A2A Vortech I dont notice it much. Now I know why so many of you southern guys go centri.
So what's the difference between the gen1 and gen2 whipple?
What was changed???

Rotor profiles. They're more efficient. Pulley ratio is different also.

correct sir although u can get a teflon coating on mine when gets recon will make it similar to a gen2
I heard the newer blowers are made in a way that they don't have that "WHINE" like the eatons do. Is that true?

they don't make as much noise as an over spun eaton.

or ported Eaton. also why would someone let a blower Eaton run out of its effeciency range:shake: Thts just my opinion, but there again if not always running the piss out of it its ok.

Chris is correct these are blowers only, they are direct fit upgrades for Terminator Cobras so a Marauder would need to have the Eaton swap kit done to it already to put these blowers on. They will be on the site Saturday afternoon.

Not to derail the thread, but what is an overspun blower?

Putting smaller blower pulley or larger crank pulleys on to spin the blower faster, out of it's efficiency zone. Most of the time it just causes excessive heat/IAT's, but could ruin bearings and seals.

Okay, so dropping the pulley size may make it run out of its best efficiency zone. I can understand that but then how do you know/figure out that zone?

The biggest advantage of an AtoA is so long as you are moving you have an unlimited amount of air.
I would never due a burn out contest with an AtoA, if you do the smoke will come from both ends of the car.

Here's the m112 compressor map. There are recommended max rpm's for them too, which looks like about 14k.
