View Full Version : Feels like a Bucking Bronco........

After shifting into OD at about 40 mph, when I press on the gas slowly to Accelerate the car starts to "buck like a bronco". As I keep depressing the gas enough to get it to down shift, it takes right off, but then when it up shifts, it starts the "bucking" again. Tried just running around with the OD off, but when it gets to top gear, and gas pressed slowly the "bucking" begins again.. I got several answers from other members... just throwing it out there to see if someone thinks it might be something else...:dunno:

Plugs? COP wires? transmission?

Use 94 Octane gas, change the fuel filter a year ago, 72,000 miles, bought it with 59,000, don't know prior history........

Start with the cheapest thing first: Clean the MAF. Then go from there. Fuel Filter. Plugs. Coils, etc. etc.

COP's would be 1st mine acted similar and it was cop's I would clean MAF to cause easy cheap. I'am assuming the cop's are still original

Your problem *sounds* like the infamous and all-too common torque converter clutch shudder issue. When was the last time the transmission fluid was changed?

Yep Ive seen that a few times its so bad and when it acts up you would think possibly something major. Although RF has a point in a way it could be the other but hope its not.

I had all fluids and filters changed 10,000 miles ago. oasis report showed that number two and five cop replaced and all plugs in 2004.......

since that was 7 years ago i'd go ahead and put new plugs in and replace the faulty coil(s)

I'm betting on ignition too .
I would change plugs first because it is cheap and it's time.
If you still have the symptom(s) buddy up to a local mechanic(back door) and have him run a scan tool test on the coils .
Unless you have lots of extra $ replace them all too! :)
If you do not know the service history better get to everything! I would assume nothing has been done unless you can verify.

Try unplugging the EGR and see if it continues to buck.

Did you recently wash the engine?

Ozark Marauder

No, I don't wash the engine, just usually wipe it down every couple of months with a damp cloth.....

It was the #4 coil......runs fine now.

Glad you got it. The other coils may not be far behind.
