I’m getting ready to the cooling mod. Having never taken off the intake manifold before are there any gaskets that I will need to replace? Any other words of advice? Thanks

The oem should be goood to re use. Always good to have a new in take gasket just incase. The last thing you want is a vacum leak torque to specs.

When removing the upper intake lid, remove the EGR shield and unscrew the exhaust pipe out the back without removing the entire EGR, also remove the entire set of vacuum lines that plug in to the lid, the cables off the throttle body, and you can just fold the lid over out of the way. The same goes for the injector rail. Just unbolt from the side of the lower intake and wiggle the injectors out with the rail as one unit and fold it over. You don't have to disconnect the fuel line. I removed the alternator and instead of pulling out the cross over tube and disturbing the O rings, I bent the tabs out of the way to pull the intake straight up and out. There is a wire loom attached to the back of the lower intake you'll have to remove for it to come out. You also do not have to remove the wiper cowl to do this job.
Make sure you use anti-seize on the bolts and get a hold of the torque pattern and specs. Do not over tighten the bolts! The lower intake is 89 inch lbs and the upper is only like 25 inch lbs I think. Also make sure your intake ports are clear and you didn't drop anything inside while working on the engine. Other then that its pretty straight forward, just be sure to fill the engine with coolant on a incline with the nose elevated through the crossover tube and leave it slightly loose to get all the air out of the system.

Thanks Blackened300a for the write up!!!! I'll try and locate the torque specs and sequence. I've got some time after work this week and I'm going to try and knock this out. CAI, Jmod, Cooling Mod and next 4.10. Thanks again!!!
