My fronts are shot after making a horrible choice to try 255/45/18 GT500 OEM fronts (good years I believe) They are making weird low speed noises and have literally hit the wear bars in only 7000 miles.

The only thing nice to say is they are so damn grippy my big ass Merc almost feels like my nimble fox on turn in.

However, it sucks for a daily.

I have Nitto NT420's on the back right now and they should last me till the end of the year so I'll just be doing fronts.

What are your feedbacks about the NT850's. Do they have a solid responsive feel? I just HATE sloppy tires. They are more expensive than factory BFG's but I'm willing to try something new. I know there was someone on here that picked up a full set and I tried searching but couldn't find him/her. They even posted a pic of their MM with the tires. I'm planning on 235/50/18 fronts and 255/55/18's so I can finally have a matching set again.

I plan on doing the fronts next week. The local shop quoted me 179 a tire + tax and hazard fee's. I'm guessing it'll be around 200 each out the door when all is said n' done. If you know of a cheaper place let me know too.

I have NT850 front and rear and I love them. Good high performance and speed rated all season. The treadwear on them is 500. Reasoable price also...I got mine on ebay from a dealer in Cincinnati for 235/50-18 and 255/55-18 I paid $642 total not counting mounting at a local shop that cost me about 50 bux. All in all I am very happy with them!

Oh damn thats alot cheaper than I was quoted. He told me 215 each for the rears.

Got a link to that seller?

Thanks for the feedback so far, keep it coming guys.

Oh wow, I hit up tirebuyer.com the site of the company that has specific rights to sell these tires.

$560 a set with free shipping.

Damn, that's a good price for Nittos!

I bought the 555's a few months back, and were just over $700.00.

Mounting, Road Force, etc... were 'freebies'.

Get 'em!

:burnout:

I was just looking at these yesterday on the forum, seemed to get great reviews. Wish there was a closeup of the sidewall...can't stand alot of designs on a sidewall myself.
Anyways here are the threads I think you were refering to.

There is not alot of design on the sidewall on these. Plain and purposeful.

FYI if you haven't previously bought from tirebuyer.com, the reviews I found on google said they make you ship to one of thier shops who usually overcharge for install.

I found an even better deal.

I have a friend that works at an ACC. With tax, install everything it was 347 out the door for just the fronts. The rears are going to be about $50 cheaper.

Also, my feedback is these tires ****ING ROCK!!!! The Goodyear F1 supercar tires on the front were the cause of the noise I thought was either a wheel bearing or my rear end. I tore into the damn rear end changing bearings to try and fix the issue. Also the goodyears only lasted about 7k.

Good year can suck my cack.

With the NT850's on the front the ride is smooth, quiet and feels really good. Once my NT420's wear down I'll be throwing some NT850's on the back. I wish I could run 555's but I need a tire that'll work all season. I just don't have room in my garage for another set of wheels tires.

Something else I just noticed. The tires I had put on are the new Plus versions. They are more expensive than the NT850's. Apparently Nitto improved on the design. http://nt850plus.com/

The 255/55/18's in 850's are only 125 a tire, my guess is they are on closeout.
the new NT850+'s are 164 a piece.

So it looks like if I want my rear's to match I'm gonna have to do the more expensive plus's but i'm okay with that.

Some more feedback about these tires.

Just drove to Vegas (about 1k round trip) and freeway speed most of the time was 80-90 with a few 1/2 throttle pulls up to about 120.

The tires are very smooth and quiet. Great feel. I haven't been this happy with a tire purchase in a very long time.

Hmmm, I just put my 3rd set of OEM fronts on yesterday at almost 80K miles exactly. Thats 40K per set. It would have been more if I had known how far off my alignment was. Wierd because the car tracked straight, but just didn't "feel right" to me. Now it does :cool4: Addcos,Sparta, Moog FTW!

Wearing excellent, still look new.

Btw, these blow the BFG's into another world. They are so much quieter. Far superior in every way.

nice! wish the sidewalls looked more like the 555 or 420s (slick side no real designs) but definetly heavily leaning towards this tire. Thanks for the follow up!

Exactly what I have now. I'm liking this quite a bit. However when the 420's wear out I'll be getting 850's for the rear. I can't wait to have matching treads again.

Does Nitto make 850 for the rear? What size? I think ill do the same thing when my 420s wear
