Yes it's a good first mod. Although I'd get a JLT for less money. You may see an increase in HP.... but the sound alone is worth the price of admission.

What he said.

And no you don't need the dry wrap.

is that guarenteed horsepower? Both air intakes are very good. I had a K&N in the past & had to go to a JTL to allow for more air flow. Either one is a good investment. By the way don't forget to join the group if you like, just go into group memberships and apply.

Personally I've tried both, but didn't have to pay for either. Soundwise: JLT all the way, it's downright evil sounding, performance-wise, I prefer the K&N after extensive testing with both. I was told if you can notice a difference between stock and CAI, it's at least a 15-20hp gain and that was noticed with both, so I'd go with whatever is the best deal.

I have the drop in filter and the filtercharger. The latter is the more worthwhile option.

I have the K&N and luv it, i added the pre filter (sock) to keep the bugs, and dirt from cloging the filter so quickly

Sorry to sidetrack the discussion, but does adding either a JLT or K&N CAI void the factory extended warranty? :o

Thanks in advance!

The only way to be sure is to read the warranty document.

Technically, ANYTHING you change from what was supplied by the factory *can* void the warranty, especially an oiled-paper filter as they are known to cause MAF fouling if over-oiled.

If warranty coverage is a big concern, then don't do it.

Okay....

I don't think the JLT website claims that much!

I think it's more like 8-10HP.

Yeah, SOTP, feels like that, maybe even a bit less.

Call reinhart he might have more used ones left for 120 if not get a jlt For 160. it's not worth 300 for a k&n for 5 rwhp and the jlt is louder

If I want a full intake it looks like I have to go with K&N. But I did see I can get their upper and lower control arms for my marquis. I should since Mine are squeaking...

Control arms will help reduce back end "squat" under acceleration. Add a larger dia. sway bar and you'll like the way the car handles; big improvement over stock.

I'm surprised how much the mustang wheels and low profile tires made things better.
But I'm looking forward to getting suspension parts.

I'm just repeating numbers from someone who supposedly knows more about cars than I do, but I can confirm that with either the JLT or K&N, there was a noticable difference (even if not much) in throttle response and pulling power versus the stock airbox.

Well in that case, I'll wait until the factory extended warranty expires this October... after that, I'll have to see what is covered by the "aftermarket" dealer extended warranty covers at that time.

IIRC, the stock airbox on the MM was designed by Roush, and flows pretty good, that's prolly why the performance improvement isn't as significant as on other cars.

I think Rousch design the intake.... not the airbox....

That would make more sense, I was told that before I ever owned a Marauder.

Well, then I didn't recall correctly! ;)

I know the stock air box flows pretty good air, frdwrch told me "way back when" some stuff about it (might be when I had the DTR) while I was talking to him about initial mods. Said that other mods would give a bigger performance improvement on our cars (e.g. tune, gears), found that to be correct.

But IMO, the sound makes the mod worthwhile all by itself. The stock intake system really muffles sound.

RF Overlord

The airbox itself may not have been designed by Rousch, but it flows very well indeed. So well that Ford chose to use it in the P71s from '05 on.

We gentlemen prefer a muffled intake sound, not wanting to draw attention to our genteel manner.

genteel - adjective ▸

typical of polite well-educated people belonging to a high social class who have strict moral standards and are easily shocked by anything rude

Very true, good sir.

To borrow a phrase from another ahhhhh, entity: "silent, but deadly"...
