View Full Version : Would you change the wheels for this purpose?

I am doing my best to land a tour this fall with the band The Misfits. When they play they are in good areas and iffy areas. So I was thinking of putting the 16 inch steelies on the car, so no one messes with the factory rims. I have no idea if I should take the snow tires off, but just normal black wheels makes the car less attractive.

I would be driving the car around the country with a small trailer for my bands stuff. Just don't know what wheels to use, maybe I'm a little too paranoid.

Thoughts?

Why not get a set of four antitheft lugnuts?

Get the Gorilla lock system - 5 locks per wheel.

Actually that's a great idea for a few reasons. I agree it's less likely someone would notice your car with the wheels off. The more logical reason is if you ruin one of your 16 inch tires it's way more likely a local shop can get a tire for you. It's a crap shoot with our 18" odd size tires. Plus with all four tires the same size you don't need to worry about your rear end clutches if you need to put a spare on the rear axle.

On my other cars with attractive wheels I used locks for years and hjad no problems but in your case I would also change the wheels, use both.

I think you guys are misunderstanding the question. The wheels will attract attention. If they are locked, great, but that doesn't mean people wont trash the car. Such as broken windows. I already found a ton of spit on it one night after a gig... just thinking about what else can happen.

yeah put on 16" steelies, locks, a pitbull in the glove box, and then someone steals the car!

Just drve your car, and enjoy it!

Put the steelies on. It will give it a slight Bluesbrothers effect while you are on a mission from God.

Yeah..... why can't they all just get along? They aren't The Ramones, Cramps, Clash exc... everyone is still alive!

Danzig and Doyal are playing here in Oct and half the set is going to be Misfits. Just get Robo and Jerry back, it would be a good lineup and would sellout more shows than ever before.
